Tuesday 4...

Toys

Hello. It's time for Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.  I hope you are enjoying them.  I welcome ideas for questions or themes, so feel free to let me know.

Could we talk about toys?  Toys are important to children and sometimes to adults as well.   There are memories tied up with toys we loved, toys we miss having in our lives.  We found comfort in them, excitement with them and just fun times over all.

1. What was your favorite all time toy?  Books.  I liked to read.

2. What kind of toys did you enjoy growing up?  Books.  I had a Barbie and made clothes and furniture for her but I like to read.  I had oil paints and like painting.  I painted dogs on velvet and sold them for $10.00!  Here is a very faded one.  This is 57 years old.  My grandpa did all the frames for me.

3.  I think certain bric a brac in the home could be a kind of grown up's toy.  What is in your home just purely to make you happy?  My entire home makes me happy.  I have lots of bric a brac but, seriously, if it all went away it would be okay.  I enjoy my art pieces and the photographs on my walls. It all makes home, home and the entire package makes me happy.

4.What games were your favorites and do you still play any games?  We played Monopoly a lot in my younger years.  My folks had my aunt & uncle and cousins for NY Eve and we kids played Monopoly until the ball dropped.  I am not excited about games but enjoy the camaraderie around the table playing whatever.

Peace and Hugs!

Holy, Holy, Holy...

  1. I love all toys, I did not have a favorite. I think of my stitching as my special toys.
Monopoly and Uno are my favorite games.
    Have a great week.

  3. Books are still my favorite toys, Terri, and always will be! I remember playing Monopoly for literally hours with other kids in our neighborhood during the summer - good memories. Now, the only game I enjoy is backgammon with Danny.
    Blessings!

  5. No one in my family played games. I was an only child. My favorite pastime was books too. Still is. I can entertain myself easily.
    Good post. xx

  6. On the topic of home decorations, that used to be HUGE for me but after my husband died and I was faced with what to do with a big house with so much stuff, it became a burden. Now that is in my past and I am very content to live in a simpler decor created by other people that.

I hope you, and all of our blogging friends in the path of the hurricane, make it through unscathed!

  7. Books and horses, yep! I'd spend hours on the floor with little plastic figures, constructing corrals and weaving stories in my head. I've never been wild for board games -- or dolls, much to my mother's consternation. I enjoyed hearing about your paintings on velvet!
