This dress is from 1955. Those were the days (I was only three)! That said, count down 1-2-3 and tell us which of these more modern shoes you like for the dress.
My thoughts: I am happy to wear slacks most of the time but I really do kind of miss wearing a dress now and then. It wasn't that long ago that I wore pantyhose, heels, and suits/dresses to work every day. When I was in school, girls had to wear skirts/dresses. We couldn't wear slacks. That was our dress code through my senior year. I won't give up slacks but it is nice to see dresses making a bit of a come-back. I will choose #1 for the lower heel. What are your thoughts?

I still enjoy wearing panty-hose every now and then ... keeps my thighs from sticking together, lol! I'm going with #3 today, but would probably remove that ankle strap.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty dress! I'll go with the first pair of shoes for the same reason you gave: lower heel height. We've been watching Leave It To Beaver re-runs lately. His mom wore such pretty dresses, never slacks, and always pearls! We have come a looooong way since then!!!

ReplyDeleteI don't remember when I last wore a dress. Even my 'dress-up' attire is slacks. We couldn't wear pants in school either, they changed that the year after I graduated, they also installed air conditioning in all the schools that year. I like the dress, I would choose shoes #2!
ReplyDeleteI would go for #2, because I don't like messing with straps, etc. on shoes. Keep it simple and comfortable. They don't look too high. The dress is lovely. I probably would not have worn it because it would not be flattering to my hips. LOL. Yes, when I grew up (a couple of years older than you), we always wore dresses to school and church. I still like to wear a dress to church occasionally, but it's getting really hard to find panty hose. I don't like to wear bare legs with a nice dress. A sundress or long skirt, maybe, but I prefer the feel of the hosiery for my feet in good shoes, and to hide my veiny looking legs at this stage in life. LOL. But alas, it is just easier to wear pants and not have to deal with all of that. Sad, but true. I hope you have a lovely weekend.
