The Hodgepodge is Back!

Thanks to Joyce for today's Hodgepodge!! Always fun and you can join in HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 511

From this Side of the Pond

1. Is your life simple? Elaborate.   Yes, even though I am working again (part-time) my life is pretty simple.  I am blessed.

2. What simple pleasure are you currently enjoying?  I have mentioned it before, but I watch way too much TV.  It really is my simple pleasure and I can procrastinate cleaning by justifying one more episode of whatever I'm streaming at the time. LOL

3. Travel by plane or go on a cruise? walk or ride a bike? swim or ski? ocean or mountains?  I would rather drive than go by plane or on a cruise.  I'll walk and pass on the bike. I will swim.  Too old to ski now - or at least too out of shape.  A few years ago I would have said ocean.  Now, I prefer the mountains.

4. What's the last thing you bought online that you really loved?  I buy nearly everything online these days. The latest was cat scratching pads and the 'boys' are having a blast with them so I'm loving that they are using them.

5. What’s your 'back in my day we__________' story? Back in my day, we would leave the house on Saturday morning and not go home until dinner time.  We were outside, hiking, climbing trees, building "clubhouses", ice skating on the lake in the winter...  In the summer..."Dad, can we take the boat out to the sandbar, to swim?" It was a glorious way to grow up.

6. Insert your own random thought here. My church home group met at my house last night.  The Cheesy Chicken Penne was a hit.  Everyone liked it and the salad I served.  I will make the casserole again!  We are reading through and discussing a book titled "Rediscover Church - Why the Body of Christ is Essential" by Collin Hansen and Jonathan Leeman.  Kind of like preaching to the choir, but it has sparked some interesting discussions, especially about our earlier memories of going to church.  We do a chapter each time we gather (twice a month).

Peace & Hugs!

As Jesus walked so I shall walk
Held by Your same unchanging love
Be still my soul, O lift your voice and pray:
‘Father, not my will but Yours be done.’

  1. I don't recall the last time I was in a store... Amazon and grocery delivery makes for a wonderful life with free time for more binge watching.

  2. I am mostly an online shopper these days too. We live in a rural area so big shopping is a fair drive away. Ahh, the freedom of childhood. It was glorious!

  3. I think a simple life is the best. I too do most of my shopping online.
My back in the day is also similar, except we were playing on the farm, not swimming.
I don't recognize your song today. Good words!

  4. I basically said the same thing for question # 5. Those were the best days!

  5. It's so easy to get comfortable, sucked into watching TV. I'm trying to wean myself -- tho' not so hard. "Back in the day" had/has me stymied, so I'm happy to get prompts here from y'all. I'll take the mountains any day, particularly this time of year. (It's on the list!) Wishing you a blessed day!

  6. So glad the cheesy chicken penne was a hit! I want to try it now. We do the TV thing most evenings and I for one really enjoy it! Have a great day!

  7. I'd say you had an idyllic childhood, Terri. I have so many wonderful memories of mine, too. So hot here in the summers, we were grateful that our generous neighbors let us use their pool often, as long as my mother was there to watch us.
Glad your casserole was a hit with everyone, too!
    Blessings!

  8. Oh my - my life is anything but simple now - I long for a simple time - I think - if it is good.
Have you seen the series Person of Interest on Freevee- I think you would LOVE the series.

  9. Uh Oh, you caught me on that song. Don't think I've ever heard of it. Gee, you must sing some different songs where you are. LOL. It sounds pretty. I'm glad your dinner went well last night. That does sound good. Your memories of childhood are similar to mine. We were outside all day, playing in the woods and yard and make believe stuff. Although sometimes I spent a week at my cousin's house and she and I spent all the time playing Barbies or Monopoly or something else inside because it was either too hot or raining. But her neighbors had a swimming pool, and we often got to go swim with them, so that was lots of fun. I'm so glad we didn't have cell phones or computers back then. And we really didn't have much to watch on TV during the daytime either, except on Saturday mornings. LOL. Happy Memories. Take care and have a great week.

  10. I've been craving a simple life. Maybe it's my age. But just this morning (my day off from work) I cleaned out a bookcase and gave a lot to Goodwill. We fly a lot but prefer road trips. I have a video on my phone taken out the front windshield of the open road and the oldies playing on the radio!
