Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 483
2. Something recently that had you on 'cloud nine'? Being able to be with the D'Orsaneo family last month for the reunion. It was so great!
3. Tell us about a time, circumstance, experience, or decision you made where the saying 'a stitch in time saves nine' proved true. Gosh, I usually try to hit things head-on and tackle problems quickly. Probably when I had to find Helen a spot in assisted living in one week, when her niece told me she was moving out "next weekend". Fortunately, I was familiar with Brookdale and they had a room for her. The moving company was available, and I had my BFF and her hubby here to pitch in and help. Couldn't have done it without them. It was also just a few weeks after Joe died. Had to just dive in and get it done.
4. A recipe you make that calls for exactly nine ingredients? Sorry... my Pinterest is full of recipes with FIVE ingredients or less. More than that and I just move on. LOL
5. This coming Friday is Veterans Day in the US of A. Will you mark the day in some way? The flag will be flying. Are you a veteran? No, but Joe was and so was my dad. If you live outside the US does your country have a day dedicated to celebrating veterans? It is a holiday but I will be working my usual shift.
6. Insert your own random thought here. My poor cats think I've lost my mind. They know when it is meal time and I make them wait a whole hour later!! They are both staring at me as I type this, trying to project their angst at me. There is always dry food out for them, by the way. Poor babies.

I remember when you had to put Helen in assisted living. That must have been so hard. I know it was difficult when we had to put mom and dad in and then in 2016 my younger sister had some strokes and she is still in assisted living from that. So hard for them and your the ones making the decisions to do what must be done. I love that song and pray that God keeps you safe through the storm.
ReplyDeleteOur cats have done the same thing! They will get over it. About seven decades ago, grandfather had a dairy farm and had at least fifty cows to milk. He said they were slower to get changed to the new schedule so he did the most of the adjusting on time - - - moving them a little each day. He was a good, good man.
ReplyDeleteI love your answers. Have a beautiful day.

I love seeing the photo of you and Joe - warmed my heart.
ReplyDeleteThat image of you and Joe is priceless.
ReplyDeleteTackling challenges head-on is my preferred MO, but that's not to say it always happens. When all that was coming down, I think we all watched in stunned silence. Between you, Elaine (and Mr. God), gosh. That sea parted!
Poor Casper and Vinny! Our girls are feeling their pain.
The photo of Joe and you is so sweet, Terri. I know you miss him, but I'm so glad you could attend that family reunion recently.
ReplyDeletePoor cats! We just can't explain time changes to them, can we? By the way, I wish we would just do away with time changes entirely. They can be disruptive.
Blessings!
Yes, until ANOTHER storm passes by. It's kinda strange, isn't it? I pray you weather it well.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the weather,,, thinking of you. :)
ReplyDeleteHard to believe we are having another "tropical storm/hurricane" in November! Praying all our Florida friends are safe and high and dry! I love the picture of you and Joe. I know you have a lot of sweet memories. So glad you were able to go to the family reunion and connect with his family. I know that was special for all of you. Time change always throws me for a loop, so I can imagine what it must do to the pets who don't understand why on earth we would be doing this to them! I honestly don't know why we do this to ourselves anymore! It really makes no sense. So thankful you had such good friends there with you when you were going through so many difficult changes in your life. And what a blessing that you were able to find that place for Helen on such short notice. I know God was with you most of all. Take care my friend, and have a good and safe rest of your week.
ReplyDeleteThat was a good job getting your friend moved. I am smiling about your cats eyeing you with a glint in their eye because you are "late" with their food. Gotta love how our pets keep us on a schedule. Scruffy gets me up at 6am every morning to go out for his first walk. sigh....xo Diana
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice picture of you and Joe.
ReplyDeleteI remember the Helen move. You did amazing!
That time change messes with all of us - including the animals.
Well I understand your cats because the time change has me asking if it's time for lunch at 10:00 lol. I don't mind a lot of ingredients but I like to cook early in the day, or at least do all the prep early. My energy definitely wanes late afternoon/early evening. Hope you're doing well!
ReplyDeleteI was talking with someone tonight who said her cats are doing the same thing! Where's our food?!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great picture of you and Joe!!
