Tuesday 4
Love It or Leave It?
Welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4...
Do you love it or will you leave it?
1. Coffee flavored or coffee plain? What is your favorite kind? I don't care for flavored coffee but usually drink it with cream and sweetener. I prefer a dark French roast and can drink it black if cream and sweetener aren't available or convenient.
2. A trip to the Caribbean or a trip to Spain? Why? If I have to pick, Spain, but I really don't want to go to either place. My "list" has never included either of those.
3. Goodies on your pizza or just plain? Goodies, please. What toppings would you love or leave? Definitely pepperoni but throw on sausage, ham, onions, peppers, mushrooms, olives... Joe used to say I liked garbage pizza!! LOL
4. Dinner at a 5-star restaurant or at Rosie's Diner known for home-style cooking? Rosie's Diner. I'm sure the 5-star is wonderful but sometimes the artsy plates are just lost on me. I was raised in the mid-west on "diner food". Meatloaf, mac'n cheese, mashed potatoes, gravy, country-fried anything... I am not hard to please.

- eat good food.” – Paul Prudhomme.
And speaking of food, several of you requested the chicken & rice recipe. Here is the link for it, but I made changes. Note that I did not use instant rice or canned chicken. I cooked long-grain rice and I used half of a rotisserie chicken (from Sam's Club). I steamed the broccoli first. I did not use Velveeta cheese but rather shredded sharp cheddar (not a whole pound). I used half 'n half instead of milk. I also added salt & pepper. I did use the recommended onion and butter. So make it your own!! I'm sure the basic recipe is good, too!

Joe nailed it, "Garbage Pizza" is my favorite. :) Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to the recipe. I made broccoli cheese soup a couple of days ago with lots of cheddar cheese. It sure was good!
ReplyDeleteI’m with you when it comes to eating.. sometimes a 5 star chef just doesn’t understand what tastes good!
ReplyDeleteGreat term, 'garbage pizza'!
ReplyDeleteLiving in the South now, we enjoy 'diner' (comfort) food all the time. I'm sure 5-star would get old fast, but it's fun to think about. Like that scene in Pretty Woman, remember?
PS - Thanks for this recipe. I like your substitutions, especially the half-n-half. My mom always kept Velveeta on hand and I swore when I grew up, I'd never eat it again. LOL.
I am like you I love coffee with cream!
ReplyDeleteI got a good chuckle out of garbage pizza. Now I am wondering where you would want to visit!
ReplyDeleteAnnie, Scottland and Ireland are top of the list.
DeleteFun post Terri: I am a homemade latte girl strong and hot, pepperoni with olives yum.
ReplyDeleteCatherine
Someone treated me to an expensive dining experience. I came home hungry! Yes, the plate was beautiful but.... :)
ReplyDeleteI'm happy with diner food, too, Terri, although I do love it when Danny prepares a fancy dish for us. And I'll take garbage pizza any day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
#4!!! Yes, me too! I would love to go with you to Rosie's!
ReplyDeleteYa know...those places are not on my list of places to go either on #2. Loved your answers! Have a nice week.

Diner for me too. Your recipe sounds good too Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteNo coffee for me and I'm not a "garbage" pizza person either. :) I laughed when I read Joe called it that. Joe always did make me laugh!
ReplyDeleteI'll meet you at Rosie's!
Thanks for the recipe.
