Friday afternoon I had my 4-month check-up with my primary doctor. She was happy with my bloodwork and stressed that those of us who got the Moderna vaccinations need to wait for the Moderna booster and she hopes it is coming soon. Speaking of vaccinations, I was past due for a pneumonia booster and a tetanus booster. so her nurse came in and stuck me on both arms. The tetanus arm is still sore, three days later, but I am happy to be up-to-date with both shots.
On Saturday, Mrs. Boss picked me up at 9:45 and we were off to the Lake Wales Pioneer Days Festival. We chatted the entire ride and it was fun getting to know her better. I will continue to call her Mrs. Boss for social media reasons - her choice and I respect it. Our mutual friend, Monika, can be named now (was Vol-M) and you will see her artwork below!
We stopped at Miller's Ale House on the way home for some lunch. I had a Philly cheesesteak and brought half of it home to have for my dinner. Yummy.
Yesterday was Sunday school and church. I did some laundry and cooked some smoked sausage, cabbage, onions, and bell peppers for a yummy meal and enough for another today! I will see Helen after work and have prescriptions to pick up at Publix before getting home. I am getting the shed work done on Tuesday afternoon and am excited to get that rearranged and settled!
Hi Terri: God is very good.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day you had, I wish it were not getting cold here I already miss all the outdoor activities like the flea market, the farmers market and other fun things.
Have a lovely week.
Catherine
What gorgeous artwork Monika does! I'm glad you purchased something from her, Terri. Your weekend, it seems, couldn't have been better. Hope the coming week is wonderful, too.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Looks like a fun festival. Monika's work is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
I love those kind of festivals. We haven't had one here in so long. Pensacola had been doing a big fall one ---I am going to have to check now. I love your purchase. Everything in that tent is adorable. I have not seen pine straw baskets but that is interesting.
ReplyDeleteThat yellow house is so cute.
Wow... that was some meal! That would take a whole lot of pepcid but back in the day I would have loved it...
ReplyDeleteThe tray you bought is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of pine needle basket weaving. How interesting and also clever to do that. I will research it some more because it sounds interesting.
It must be the weather with the boiled cabbage because we had it with ham and boiled potatoes and carrots! Yummy!
What a wonderful weekend. My daughter went to college at Warner University in Lake Wales a few years ago and she's been in Florida ever since. Hope you have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI hot my degree from Warner University!!! Small world!
DeleteThe festival looks like fun. We have a couple of the pine needle baskets...they are so pretty! Love the creation you bought too! I go crazy at festivals! lol Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteI just looked up the process for making the pine needle baskets. Oh my, it is so time consuming! However they are beautiful creations! I don't know the cost of them but if a person paid by the labor invested, they would cost more than a bit. Thanks for introducing me to something new.
ReplyDeleteLynda, they were pretty expensive. $65 for a small one.
DeleteI'm going for my Moderna booster today! YaaaaaY!!!! Love your purchase! Have a great week, Terri!
ReplyDeleteHow nice. I would have liked to have one of those crosses, if they're handmade. Very lovely.
ReplyDeleteIt's supposed to get cold here this week. I hope that's an accurate forecast. It rained last night, so, that's promising.
Have a blessed week my friend. xx
What a wonderful outing you had, Terri! Monika's art work looks incredible. It reminds me of Tole Painting. Your tray is gorgeous. Have a super week!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day!! LOVE your purchase and I would have gotten one of those crosses for my cross wall.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely setting, Terri! Like Sparky, I'm really taken with Monika's crosses. I'm guessing yours is a bread bowl? And those are pineapples ... the symbol for hospitality? Great choice!
ReplyDeleteI bought a smallish tray. It's only about 15 inches long.
DeleteI so envious of your shopping trip. Thats my can of trip. Now that the state is opening back up I need to hit the farmers mart and the antique market. I always do lots of holiday shopping there.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering if Rosemaling and Tole Painting are the same thing? They seem similar. Monika's work is really wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThey are similar, that's for sure. I know that Rosemaling is Norwegian so maybe it is more a translation thing...
DeleteGlad you had such a good time with Mrs Boss. It looks like a fun show. I really like your purchase!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great outing! And I love what you purchased!
ReplyDeleteThat yellow house!! I would so love to have a big front porch like that!
