Smelly Cat

Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. Saturday 9: Smelly Cat (1995)

1) Poor Smelly Cat lives with negligent humans who refuse to take it to the vet. Who is the last doctor you spoke to (vet, MD, dentist, Ph.D...)?  The last doctor I spoke with was Lucy's veterinarian.  I see my orthopedic doctor on Monday.

 

2) This song was introduced during the second season of Friends. Were you a fan of the show?  Joe and I both enjoyed Friends and watched it every week.  Now, when I catch a rerun, it seems silly to me.  Not sure why we loved it so.

3) On the show, the song was performed by Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow), an amateur folk singer and a professional masseuse. There  was a debate on Reddit about massages -- some loved them because they are relaxing and therapeutic, others think it's "creepy to be undressed and handled by a stranger." How about you? Do you enjoy massages?  I do enjoy a massage and attribute my successful knee therapy to a massage therapist.  My leg muscles were so tight that I couldn't get the range of motion my therapist required (this was my second knee surgery). I went to the massage therapist at my chiropractor's office and she worked on my leg for 30 minutes. The next day, it was like I had a new leg and a new knee. I could bend to the required 120 degrees and beyond. 

 

4) During the run of Friends, Phoebe was roommates first with Monica and then with Rachel, and finally with her true love, Mike. Tell us about one of your roommates.  Well, my only roommates were my husbands.  I don't need to tell you about Joe. He was the best roommate a girl could ask for and I miss him.

 

5) Phoebe often performed for tips on street corners or at her favorite coffee shop, Central Perk. Where is your favorite place to go for a cup of joe?  My kitchen.  I don't care for Starbucks and rarely go out for breakfast.  We do have a few really nice coffee shops here in Lakeland but rarely go to them for coffee.

6) This song was originally called "Smelly Dog," inspired by a pooch named Gouda. The childhood pet of Friends writer Betsy Borns, poor Gouda could have smelled better. Is there an odor you'd prefer to never smell again?  Cat pee is pretty bad.  I keep my three litter boxes cleaned every day and am happy Vinny seems to have stopped marking things.

 

7) 35% of American households include a cat. Are there any pets at your house?  Yes. Three cats. Vinny, Lucy, and Lilly.

8) In 1995, the year Phoebe first performed "Smelly Cat," Steve Fossett became the first person to make a solo flight across the Pacific in a hot air balloon. Have you ever ridden in a balloon?  No, but it is kind of on my bucket list of things to do...

9) Random question: Looking over your romantic history, have you broken more hearts, or had your heart broken more often?   My 'romantic history' isn't that interesting.  The only time my heart was broken to pieces was when Joe died (almost six months ago).  He was my best friend and the person who knew me better than anyone after 36 years of marriage. I miss him something awful but know he would want me to carry on. He was always my greatest cheerleader and I know he is urging me on.  I would want him to be proud of me.
