Curly Shuffle
Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's mem
Unfamiliar with this song? Hear it here.
1) This song is a valentine to The Three Stooges. Are you a fan? Absolutely! I love slapstick comedy!
2) It was released to coincide with the Three Stooges getting a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame. That's the Hollywood in California. There are 23 other Hollywoods in the United States and two in Ireland. Have you ever visited any of these 26 Hollywoods? If so, which one? No, I don't recall visiting any of them. I cruised past Hollywood, FL, on I-95 though. It is down just north of Miami.
3) The inspiration for this song was Jerome Horowitz, aka Curly Howard of The Three Stooges. He had many signature phrases, including "nyuk, nyuk, nyuk," "woob, woob, woob," and "sointenly." Give us a movie quote, and be sure to tell us who said it. "I want what she's having!" (The lady in the diner...Meg Ryan & Billy Crystal, When Harry Met Sally)
4) Curly's older brother, Moses Horowitz, was better known as Moe Howard. Moe was convinced that Lou Costello of Abbott & Costello developed his screen persona by stealing from Curly. It turns out he was right! Lou Costello was previewing early prints of Three Stooges films before they were released to the public. Tell us about a time your gut instinct told you something that turned out to be true. Gosh, I 'listen' to my gut instinct all the time and usually prefer to call it a God thing. There are no coincidences.

5) The third Stooge, Larry, was Louis Feinberg. Though he became famous as a movie comic, he was also a talented musician. When he was 11, he received an invitation to study violin at a European conservatory, but he was unable to go because of WWI. Tell us about plans of yours that were interrupted because of circumstances beyond your control (weather, the pandemic, etc.). I think we all will probably say COVID. It interrupted vacations, celebrations, and my life when it took Joe from me.
6) As a teen, Larry took up boxing and won several bouts. His father disapproved of the sport and put an end to his boxing career. Did you participate in sports during your teen years? Girls' sports were so awful back in the day. Basketball had half-court rules and I hated it. Girls' field hockey had stupid rules. I ran track but couldn't do the hurdles because I was tall and the hurdles were spaced for short girls. Running track was the only sport I participated in that had us competing with other schools.
7) Today the Three Stooges Fan Club has more than 2,000 members and publishes a quarterly newsletter filled with rare photos, interviews, trivia, and a marketplace where fans can buy and sell Stooge memorabilia. Have you ever belonged to a fan club? No.
8) In 1983, Princess Diana was the world's top cover girl. Her influence was credited for reviving Britain's fashion and tourist industries. When you think of Britain, what's the first thing that comes to mind? Queen Elizabeth, I guess. I don't think of Britain often at all. I'm adding an edit here... My blogging friend, Wendy, and my FB friend Jackie are both in London. I think of them when I read their posts.
9) Random question -- Your best friend needs help hanging a picture. Would you be comfortable holding the nail so your friend could swing the hammer? No, but I would hold the nail and pound it in for my friend.
Peace & hugs! Jesus loves us!!

I like your answer to #9. Ha Ha! I prefer to hammer my own nails too. We love the 3 Stooges here. In a family with three sons and a daddy who acted like one of the boys, it seemed like they were always doing 3 Stooges type stunts...even if by accident. LOL. I also ran track a little in HS, but only in P.E. We didn't have competing teams for girls back then. My sport was cheerleading and I got a letter and a jacket for my 4 years! But I couldn't do what the cheerleaders do today. We didn't have to do gymnastics back then...just jump around and yell alot! LOL. Have a great day today, visiting with your family.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh Terri, the Three Stooges drive me CRAZY, but Marvin loves them.lol
ReplyDeleteLots of great trivia about the Three Stooges that I never knew, Terri. I loved watching their silly antics when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day!
#7 - Me neither. I'm not a "joiner of things" anyway. Doesn't matter what it is.
ReplyDeleteHave a fun weekend!
Blessings. xx
"What she's having" ... yes, that's classic! One of the best things about growing older is (me) learning to listen to my instincts. God winks. 🤗
ReplyDeleteThat moment in "When Harry Met Sally"....too funny! I can remember people imitating it in restaurants back when the movie came out. Oh wow, I'm glad girl's sports weren't like that when I was in school. They weren't as equal as they are now but still better than half-court basketball! I enjoyed your answers, Terri. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI think you were the only fan of the Stooges. Loved your answers. Have a nice weekend.

My answers to the questions:
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of slapstick comedy at all.
Lived in Southern California from age 8 to age 16, so yes, I’ve been to Hollywood, CA.
“My boy, we’re pilgrims in an unholy land.” from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Uh. I’m drawing a blank on the “gut instinct” question.
Plans interrupted — several when my husband died last November. Can’t bear to share the details right now.
I’m not an athletic person. I like to walk.
No fan club memberships for me.
Britain: Like you, Terri, I think about the Queen and the palace.
Again agreeing with Terri: I’d be glad to both hold the nail and pound it in.
