The Saturday 9...

You can join the Saturday 9 right HERE!  Thanks to Crazy Sam Winters for the questions!

One Bad Apple

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme.

One Bad Apple (1971)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This song is a play on the old saying that one bad apple can spoil the bunch, or that the bad behavior of one member can reflect badly on the whole group. Do you think that's true?  I think it CAN be true but that depends on who the bad guy is and who and how strong the good guys are.

2) The Osmonds began as The Osmond Brothers, a barbershop quartet that performed at the original Disneyland in Anaheim, California. Today there are 9 Disney Resorts all around the world, as far away as Shanghai. Have you ever been to a Walt Disney property?  Just Disney World in Orlando.  We live 40 minutes from there and had season passes for several years when the grandkids were little.

3) By the time the Osmonds made this record, Donny had joined the group and became their breakout star. Without looking it up, can you name any of the other four brothers who performed in the video clip? Alan and Jay, I think...

4) In the 1970s, adolescent girls learned through teen magazines that Donny's favorite color is purple, and that he was especially fond of purple socks. Today, socks are a very big business. There are designer sock manufacturers and even a sock of the month club. Is there a wardrobe item you're very particular about?  Not anymore, unless you count a purse. I am particular about my purses.  Oh, and my slacks MUST have pockets.

5) Donny and his younger sister Marie had their own TV variety show. One regular segment had them performing a medley of popular songs, and it began with Marie singing, "I'm a little bit country," followed by Donny's musical reply, "I'm a little bit rock and roll." In this regard, are you more like sister or brother? Probably more like sister, Marie.

6) Donny's popularity continues today. Fans have seen him win Dancing with the Stars (season 9) and come in as a runner-up on the first season of The Masked Singer. Do you watch either of these shows -- or other competition series, like American Idol, The Voice, America's Got Talent, etc.?  I used to watch DWTS every week and every season but it got old pretty fast.  I did watch American Idol this year and enjoyed it.

7) Donny has also appeared on Broadway. He surprised audiences and got rave reviews as arrogant bad guy Gaston in Disney's Beauty and the BeastTell us about a time when your behavior surprised those who know you well. Gosh, I don't know if my behavior surprises anyone - especially those who know me well.

8) Donny is also a grandfather, many times over! Sam admits she's not crazy about that revelation because it makes her feel old. What's something that makes you feel your years? Ha!  Every day. And I posted this on FB yesterday... kind of says it all!!

9) Random question: We're filling a pinata with your favorite candies. What should we buy?  Heath bars, anything caramel, anything Dove, anything Ghiradelli...

Peace & hugs!
Jesus loves you and me!

  1. We loved going to Disney when we lived there. We had friends who worked there who would get us 3-day passes with their employee discounts. I remember getting something like 5 or 6 3-day passes for only $50 back in 1985 and thinking it was expensive. Boy, how that has changed! Otherwise, we liked to go in January when they gave discounts to the locals. Those tickets were only $20 for one day.
It takes me forever to find a purse I like.
I saw that FB post and laughed. We are definitely "vintage" at this point, I guess.
    Have a great weekend, Terri!

  4. Oh I love that quote about the jewelry. I was not a big fan of the Osmonds. Bobby Sherman was my heart throb back in the 70s!:)

  8. So glad I was able to enjoy the Disney theme parks before they became so expensive ... and it hurt (me) to move! You know, I can't put my finger on why, but I think American Idol seems more enjoyable the last couple years. Happy Saturday!

  9. I was completely and madly in love with Donny in 5th and 6th grade. Never missed an issue of Tiger Beat:)
That vintage thing keeps pushing up in the years. I suppose I am vintage but I would like to think of that in the terms of wine...better with age:)

  10. Oh my goodness, #8 cracks me up. I need to lay down the rest of the day too.
    Your candies sound so yummy!
I work with a gal that has to have pockets in her pants...she carries around stuff in them all day. Cracks me up. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.

  11. Yes, must have pockets. Never know when you need a hanky, or a place to put it... I remember Donny and Marie Osmond show, and I remember the original Osmonds when they were first on the Ed Sullivan Show. Those were the days...Yes I am definitely Vintage...probably past prime Vintage! LOL. Don't care a thing about going to Disney. We took the kids years and years ago when they were very young and they were probably too young to fully appreciate it. We never cared to go back. Even our grandson, when he came down from Maine to visit, had no interest in going there. We tend to gravitate toward more natural environments like the beach or Silver Springs or Homosassa Springs, and Sea World was fun. Love your pinata picture. Fun fun fun.

  12. I loved the Donny and Marie show! I wasn't an Osmond brothers fan, they were a bit before my time. Donny being a Grandfather makes me feel old too, even though I'm a grandma. :)
I'll come help with your piñata. Those are my favorites too.
