Monday's Weekend Recap...

This one will be short.  It was a whirlwind weekend for me.

I found out a couple of weeks ago that to get the "death benefit" through social security, an appointment is needed and they only do phone appointments right now, so mine was on Thursday.  The man I spoke with was very nice and asked about 50 questions that didn't seem relevant at all but necessary. Anyway, the $255 should show up in my account in a week or so. Done. That was Thursday.

Friday morning was a coffee and donut get-together at the Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission Regional Office and I was invited to go. Got to meet a bunch of folks who work there and with who I have already traded emails with so it was good.  Back at the office, I finished all the training things but one.  It has a 3-hour time limit and includes a test so I will do it today or tomorrow.

Saturday was my cleaning day.  Oh my gosh, was my house dirty! I hadn't done much of anything for a few weeks so the main living areas (kitchen & living room & bathrooms) got torn apart.  I worked for almost five hours and my body felt it. I mopped all the floors and emptied that water three times. Yikes!  I washed throw rugs too.  Feels good to get it done.

Sunday was church.  After church, I went to Haverty's to pick out my new chairs  (go here #6 if you didn't see my post about it).  Melanie was so sweet and I got the decisions made fairly quickly. The chairs I ordered have a smaller footprint and are fabric instead of leather.  I'm happy - but have to wait 10 weeks. TEN WEEKS! So, come fall I should have two new chairs. Sigh. I purchased the insurance again because if the cats shred the fabric, they will fix it!! Worth it. AND... I still didn't use the entire amount of the credit and that money will go into my account within three days. Score again!

I filled my car with gasoline, picked up some groceries at Publix, and got home to do some laundry. That's it.  I have been marathon watching "Treme" on HBOMAX.  It has four seasons and is about New Orleans right after Katrina. Some tough subjects and language but great music.

Peace & hugs!  Jesus loves you and me!

Just a reminder to my followers who get my blog by email...  That option is being taken away from us sometime in July.  You will have to remember to use the link  https://tdorsaneo.blogspot.com/  to find me each day or subscribe to a service (free) like Feedly  https://feedly.com/   You can use Feedly for any blog or news service you want to see on a regular basis.  It is how I keep up with all the folks I follow.  It is pretty easy to navigate and customize.

  2. What a busy weekend. Ours was laidback in comparison. Glad you're getting some money back. Every little bit helps, doesn't it!?
    Blessings. xx

  3. May be of interest and applicable. Worth checking it out.

FEMA's website says it will reimburse families up to $9,000 for COVID-related funeral and burial costs. It isn't yet clear what factors will determine who is able to receive the full amount, or a portion of the available funds.

To apply for up to $9,000 in funeral reimbursement money from FEMA, first gather the documentation listed above. Then, call the COVID-19 Funeral Assistance Line at 844-684-6333. Note that FEMA is receiving lots of calls, causing technical issues -- if you get a busy signal, try calling again later.

Once you get through, it should take about 20 minutes to apply over the phone.

    1. I applied a month ago and it is still "pending". I call every few weeks just to see if they have all the paperwork they need. They always say yes. Time and patience.

  4. The social security thing reminded me of the commercial for life insurance that the ladies are talking about. I actually can't even remember if Mother got one of those for her husband. I am sure she did. We just had some financial meetings the other day to check on long term things such as this. Not my favorite thing to do but necessary I suppose. I always wonder how a house can get so dirty with just me and Jeff:) I think fairies must come in and dump dirt at night. I had to wait on my new couch back even a year ago. I think everything is backed up now. It will be worth it when they come though.

  5. Gosh, won't you send a bit of your energy my direction? Tom and I are still undecided whether to go for a couch with leather or fabric; nice to know insurance covers any potential shredding, too! BTW, did you get your new glasses? I'm trying to decide if your Avatar's frames look different. 😀

  8. Sounds like you were the Energizer Bunny this weekend! It feels good to get that deep cleaning done. My two dogs make it hard, it never stays clean for long! (I used to blame it on the kids, now it's the dogs...)(But they aren't the ones who drape things here and there, and stack things on the counters...)
I'm glad for you with your new job, sounds like you work with some nice people. And, yay for new chairs!

  12. I am sitting here wondering how I could manage to do half of what you did this past weekend in your house. My house needs a thorough cleaning so badly. We want to take up the carpet in the living/dining room and replace with vinyl planks (wood look), but just haven't gotten around to it yet...have to figure out where to put the furniture while they do the work, etc., but I am so tired of this carpet...it is wrinkling in places and looks terrible. It was cheap carpet they put in this house to sell it. I thought it would last longer, but nope. Anyway, I am happy you are getting new chairs. Too bad it takes so long, but that seems par for the course these days with most anything big like appliances and furniture. I am happy you seem happy with your new job. That is a blessing!! Take care and try not to work so hard! You make us old folks hurt just thinking about it. LOL> (I think I'm just a year older than you, but still...)

  14. I will be hoping you get your chairs that quick. We waited over 3 months and still no mattress. I cancelled it last week. I know others who have ordered furniture, some as long ago as last fall and still don't have it. Furniture is taking forever to come in. Lack of workers to make it, I'm hearing.

  15. What a busy weekend! I know you felt good about getting that cleaning done.
We ordered new recliners in January and have been waiting.. I usually have Tuesdays off, but this week our Director of Nursing will be gone on Tuesday so I need to be there. About 30 minutes after I agreed to this I got a message that our chairs were in and they could deliver them on Tuesday... Can you believe it? And they only deliver on Tuesday so now I need to wait another week. I guess, what's a week when we've waited for 6 months, right? Hope your chairs come fast!

    1. She had some brands that actually said 48 weeks on order. What I chose said 10 weeks so I sure hope I see them at least sometime in September! Glad one of the current chairs is still working!

  16. My sis in law just ordered a sofa and it is a 26 week wait for her. Oh well It is what it is and you will have those nice chairs to look forward to receiving. I am hoping as people return to work, things will become more normal.

  17. Bless you, doing all that hard cleaning when you didn't even have company coming, lol!!1 That's always my motivation!

You are a really busy lady these days! Your attitude is so fantastic though! I admire you more all the time.

We found out that the new heat pump will be installed next Wednesday. We've been making do with just one window air conditioner, and I will be SO thankful to be back to central air again. Our "troubles" began the beginning of May, so it will be almost two months of waiting. I guess that's better than 10 weeks!

  18. I'm just so glad to read that things are working out for you. That's wild about having to order the new chairs from Haverty's and then waiting 10 weeks for delivery. I hope they turn out to be exactly what you need them to be!
