Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 421
1. We're approaching Memorial Day Weekend in the US of A...will you mark this in some way? If so tell us how. According to a list found here some things you might do in honor of Memorial Day would be-shop in a Veteran owned business, learn to play a patriotic song, watch the Memorial Day concert, take a virtual tour of the White House, write a letter to a soldier or a soldier's family, fly a flag, attend a Memorial Day parade, donate flowers for a soldier's grave, put together a care package for a soldier, and take a moment of silence at 3 PM (the National Moment of Remembrance)....of the ideas mentioned are there any you will try? I fly the flag every day. I will be visiting family.
2. What's something recently that made you 'come to attention? Working again requires my attention, especially trying to find answers for problems I keep finding.
3. In what area of your life do you need to 'soldier on? Living life without Joe.
4. As a long weekend approaches and summer draws near, what's a favorite food from your childhood you think about adding to the menu? Summer always meant a lush and productive garden and fresh veggies on the table. I would love to add home-grown tomatoes to my menu but I did not inherit my dad's green thumb.
5. Your favorite patriotic movie? For the 4th of July, we always tried to watch "The Patriot" and also "Independence Day". I will probably still seek them out!
6. Insert your own random thought here. I made appointments today for pedicures with my two sisters while they are here. It is my birthday gift to them. Should be fun and I don't think Tammy has ever had one. I will make sure someone takes our picture!

I haven't seen Independence Day in a long time. Hopefully one of the tv channels we get will play it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
We will celebrate with a big cookout. We fly our flag every day. Hope your holiday weekend will be good. Enjoy your sisters too!
ReplyDeleteBig hugs to you as you miss your hubby. Have fun getting a pedicure. That will be wonderful. I love your background here too
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your sisters and pedis. I plan to go and get one as a reward when this moving situation has been dealt with. We are in our new house but oh my goodness. I wish all my blog friends could come and help me unpack.:)
ReplyDeleteI have to work Monday...but prb will cook out Sunday. I had a pedicure once, won't ever do it again, grin. I just don't like my feet touched, LOL.
ReplyDeleteWe always keep our flag up too and I talked about it in my post!
ReplyDeleteGreat movie choices!
ReplyDeleteWon't your sisters be surprised - and delighted - by the pedicures?! I've not indulged in so long; it's easier to wear tennis shoes and keep 'em covered.
I also have the American flags out every day. They're little ones but they are out there. I enjoyed your answers.
ReplyDeleteLove & Prayers xx
Those sister pedicures sound so FUN!!! I had one with all the girls before Lisa's wedding in 1998, but none since.
ReplyDeleteMy dad also had a green thumb that I didn't inherit!
ReplyDeleteI completely forgot about Independence Day...good one!
#3 made me tear up.
I fly the flag every day. It has to be hard to live without Joe. I am so sorry.
ReplyDeleteOH, I love the "birthday feet" idea! I would LOVE to have a pedicure, and one of these days I am just going to go ahead and do it! I've never had one, and I am long overdue. And I don't have a green thumb either. My sister is the gardener in the family, but only flowers. We tried to grow vegetables once or twice, but we always moved before they crops were ready. So someone else got the bounty! I've given up. I buy from the farmstand at the flea market. Much cheaper than trying to grow my own! LOL
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend. Are you traveling to be with family, or are they coming to you? Hope you have a wonderful time whatever you do.
I am driving up there, Pam.
DeleteI am sure that there are things that come up daily in living life without Joe. And I can see him, with that big smile, saying "I'm proud of you Terri!"
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mari. Made me cry. I hope I am making him proud!
DeleteEnjoy your time with your family over the holiday weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou could try just one tomato plant in a pot. Homegrown tomatoes are the best!
We have watched those 2 movies a lot here, too, but I am not ready to re-live them w/o Beloved just yet.
ReplyDeleteSome of our shared experiences I can handle and some not yet. But I'm getting there.
Praying for you and your weekend plans.
