Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 384
2. Do you enjoy browsing second-hand shops? Last thing you bought or 'inherited' second hand? When my sisters visit, we do get out for consignment and second-hand shopping. I am not a shopper and when I do shop it is on-line but I enjoy getting out with family and friends. I bought some denim shorts that last time I went to Goodwill with my sister, Tammy. It was well over a year ago, though.
3. Something you had second thoughts about after committing to, purchasing, or posting/commenting online? I ordered a pair of sandals from a company that ended up being one of those places in China. The shoes are not sized properly (nor are the clothes). When they came, they were poorly made (you get what you pay for) and were about a half size too small. I actually delete the ads when I see them online now. I will never order from a company that doesn't tell you where they are located...REALLY located.
4. What's a product or service you use that you'd rate as second to none? We have used our pest control company for the 30 years we have been in Lakeland. We recommend them all the time. Bio-Tech takes care of the bugs in Florida and that is saying something! There are lots of products I love but I will mention that I love my Pantene Curl Perfection shampoo.
5. Something you do so often or that comes so naturally to you it's second nature? Typing; using a 10-key adding machine; popping a k-cup into the Keurig coffee machine (in my sleep!); saying "thank you, Jesus" for my blessings; loving Joe...
6. Insert your own random thought here. I had a nice phone conversation with my sister, Patti, last night! We talked about apple orchards and vacation plans we want to make after this crazy pandemic time is over. Her school is doing great with all the new rules. She said her class is small but it is working out well. I hope that all teachers are experiencing the same.
Peace & hugs! God bless!!

I love poking around thrift shops. The last thing I bought was a unopened box of Ball jar lids for $1.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
I love junking....that's what I call looking in thrift stores. I bought some coffee mugs for my grandson's new place. I miss doing that. I do not need anything that's for sure. I am starting to gather things for the goodwill in our town. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that you will be seeing your grands soon, Terri - how wonderful is that? And that's good advice about checking out a company before placing an order with them. I can't think of a time I was last disappointed, but I know Danny has had a few negative experiences when he hasn't really sourced the source! Hope you have a great Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteMy husband said the schools opened surprisingly well. I think he was prepared for the absolute worst. I pray it continues. We need this to work out well.
ReplyDeleteI am not getting out much at all these days. I don't really like to shop anyway, but I do love antique stores, etc.
Terri, typing is one of the classes I took because my mother made me and of all my high school classes has proved to be the one I use every day!! And you know I love consignment stores as I post so much about things I have bought there. I am frugal I guess.
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for you to see the grandkids, smiles. And cool beans for Publix! I wish I could say that here, nope, as a matter of fact, Walmart is doubling down.
ReplyDeleteLove thrift shops and that is about the only place I go to otherwise I order online too! Glad you will get to see the grands and have a good visit.
ReplyDeletePublix has taken the lanes down here too - but I don't know if GA is slowing down. Happy birthday to Joe and have fun when all the kids are there!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree with you more about those FB ads. I've been stung, both by plastic ware and running shorts -- ridiculously smaller than what the label said. My DIL is the Queen of Goodwill! :)
ReplyDeleteI love thrift stores that have old dishes and neat things like that. It's been a while since I've been to one, except the one at our church. They sometimes get some neat "new" stuff, which reminds me, I should go. (I probably should take some stuff to donate for them to sell). Happy to hear your sister's class is doing well. I pray for the kids and teachers as well. So many new "rules" to be concerned about. The last thing I ordered online that I didn't know was coming from China was the dress I wore to my son's wedding. It took over 6 weeks to get here, and so I bought another one locally in the meantime just in case it never showed up. It did, and it was nice enough to wear, but I was sure sweating over that one! Never again! Have a great weekend with the kids and celebrating Joe's birthday! Sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYou have so much to look forward to this month! There are a few signs here of things going back to normal, but not due to any lifting of restrictions. People are just fed up and taking matters into their own hands. I can understand the desperation of restaurant owners. The pandemic and all the restrictions put on them have put many of them out of business for good. People don't react well when you mess with their livelihood. Moving on....have a blessed day, Terri!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Joe and enjoy being with your family!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed all of your answers today.
Have a great Wednesday my friend.
I love your without a second thought responses. Typing. Yup. Ten key adding machine. Yup. I'm learning the Keurig at my daughter's house although I still prefer my husband's pour over coffee.
ReplyDeleteI loved your answers to #5. And there are so many things to be thankful for! A service we purchased on the farm was also pest control, who came out each fall to spray around the windows and doors of our house and shop to keep Asian beetles out when they swarm, about the first week of October. It was worth every penny! Happy upcoming birthday to Joe! 🎶🎶😊
ReplyDeleteI think we've all learned the hard way about ordering online! I've discovered if you read the comment thread people usually talk about their delivery experience and that's helpful. My daughter has been subbing this fall in a new state, and she says it's going well, the kids don't make a big deal about the masks and she's happy to be back in a school building.
ReplyDeleteWe have had the same experience, ordering something and then finding out they are located in China. Facebook ads are the worse, buyer beware. So nice the grands are coming for Joe's birthday, family parties are the best!!
ReplyDeleteThanking Him is a wonderful thing to do naturally. I actually wake up a bit crabby most morning, but immediately start to thank Him. It's amazing how quickly that brightens the day. I'm glad to hear your sister's class is doing well. Have a wonderful visit with your grandchildren!

Yippee for your visit with your grands on Saturday! I'm so ready for restrictions to be lifted, too. Happy September to you!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun weekend ahead for you. And, we should all "thank Him" without any thought ALL the time. That was a great answer. Good to stop by, always a joy.
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing about your sandal purchase. I just had a similar experience. I ordered sandals online and found out it was a China scam. I got a fake Versace ball cap - didn't even get sandals that were too small. I learned my lesson!
ReplyDeleteThose things are all second nature to me as well. I agree with you about the online orders from strange companies. I experienced something like that a very long time ago and it was a little fan for my computer. Bad decision. Never helped. Rip-off!
