I had a blessed three-day weekend. I really look forward to them. I don't know if I'm looking forward to getting my knee replaced to get rid of the pain, or because I will be resigning my part-time job when I get it scheduled. LOL I really do enjoy the people and am blessed to have that extra (very small) paycheck every two weeks. It has been a blessing and I may need to find another one down the road, but I am tired and looking forward to walking without a limp, and not setting the alarm!
Whenever I sit down, I can count on Vinny climbing into my lap. Every time I sit down. He might be in another room, but as soon as my backside hits the chair, he is there. Such a sweet boy!
On Friday, I did not set the alarm but when I got up, I made some pizzelles because the Assistant Pastor of our new church and his wife were coming over for a visit around 2:00. I wanted something to offer them to go with a beverage. Neither had had them before and they both liked them enough to keep reaching for another one. I sent some home with them for their SIX kids. Four have bright red hair! Ella told me there are redheads on both sides of the family. The other two are blondes like their mom.
We had a very nice visit. We learned about them and Brian's calling to the ministry, and they learned about us. They came in two cars because Ella had to pick up the kids after school, but Brian stayed another 30 minutes or so.
Friday evening, Joe went to the clubhouse to play Nickels and I begged off (again). While he was gone, Al and Theresa popped in so we had a nice visit for an hour or so. Joe was happy when he returned because he won a couple of games. Most of our Nickel-playing friends are heading north this week. We will go from two tables of 10 to one table of 10 permanent residents but it is still fun.
Saturday arrived with a nice sleep-in and I got the laundry started. A phone call came from next door inviting us to a cook-out at 5:00. Just a last-minute get-together with a few of the folks leaving this week, and we neighbors. It was fun and the food was good. Sharon did burgers and hotdogs and baked beans, and the rest of us brought the extras.
Sunday took us to Sunday school for our membership class, then worship services. When we got home I actually took a nap while Joe watched the Phillies baseball game. We had an easy dinner and then watched TV. The Midwives was on and Game of Thrones!! Sunday night marathon TV. Back to work today.
Wishing you a blessed week ahead!
Peace & hugs! God bless!!
I am confused ... why do four of the pizzelles have bright red hair?
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
LOL Victor! I should have been more explicit!! Four of the kids have red hair!
DeleteJack has bad both knees done. He feels so much better. I wish it were my knees that made me limp. I refuse more spine surgery at this point. I'll just limp away.
ReplyDeleteI am a big Call the Midwives fan too. And we are hooked on Unforgotten, on Mystery on PBS. I know you will be glad to have pain free knees...hope all goes well. It has made a world of difference for Marvin. When he got the one knee done and began walking correctly again, his other knee quit hurting.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had pizzelles in a long time. Yum!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a nice weekend.
Have a great day!
I love that you are so 'seated' in your area with good friends and activities that you can participate in (or not). Six kids is a Big family by today's standards.
ReplyDeleteI hope you and hubby have a really great week and I know you are 'looking forward' to having your knee done and retiring from your job. If you need another job one will be there when you are ready.
Have a great week- xo Diana
I know surgery is such a hard decision. My husband has had a hip replacement and a second readjustment to it. He probably waited too long to have the first one done, but like I said it is a hard decision.
ReplyDeleteThe weekend sounds like a good one with friends. I am guessing it gets quieter when the ones go back north. Aren't you glad you get to stay?!
Indeed I am!! 30 years this July!
DeleteAw, I love how Vinnie's a momma's boy. Grace is that way with Tom. You know, I never did get around to buying a pizzelle maker. These photos are playing with my taste buds! Have a great day, Terri!
ReplyDeleteDarn, I was afraid of that. Sorry for misspelling Vinny's name!
DeleteDid I miss it - do you have a date for your knee surgery?
ReplyDeleteYour sweet fur baby will enjoy you being home to recover :)
Not until Summer. I'll get it scheduled when I see my doc on May 20.
DeleteI've never had a pizzelle, Terri, but they sure do look good. Glad the pastor and his wife enjoyed them during their visit with you.
ReplyDeleteYes, do hope you can get the knee surgery done sooner than later - you'll feel so much better!
Blessings!
My friends wrote and tell me its 91 down their way in Fort Myers....hmm... Now I am enjoying 36 degrees... Darn.. I just can't get the location right! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL... it wasn't quite that hot in Lakeland. Just the high 80s. Come back down and give Lakeland a try!
DeleteSooo, would you call Pizzelles low calorie waffles?
ReplyDeleteOne cup of sugar in the recipe but they are very thin... if you can eat just one.
DeletePizzelles are my very favorite! I love the little hint of anise! Congrats on an enjoyable 3 day weekend! HUGS! Annster's Domain
ReplyDeleteSo when are you getting your knee done - I have had my left knee done and my right hip.
ReplyDeleteThis summer. I'll get it schedule at my May 20 appointment. So happy you can post now!! Happy new computer!!
DeleteI've never had pizelles either, but they sure do look good. Glad you had a nice visit.
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful for the end of that job and for the relief of pain for you!
How interesting! I have never made pizelles! Is it like a pancake batter?
