April Love
Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
April Love (1957). Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.
1) In this song, Pat Boone sings that April love is a wonder reserved for the very young. Do you think the sensation of falling in love changes as we grow older? LOL - I think lots of sensations change as we grow older!! But I do believe love is not reserved for the young.
1) In this song, Pat Boone sings that April love is a wonder reserved for the very young. Do you think the sensation of falling in love changes as we grow older? LOL - I think lots of sensations change as we grow older!! But I do believe love is not reserved for the young.
2) "April Love" reached #1 on the charts. Between this song and "Love Letters in the Sand," Pat Boone had a career year. Only one artist sold more records in 1957: Elvis Presley. When you think of Elvis, what's the first song that comes to mind? Blue Christmas, which I absolutely hate. I like Elvis, but hate that song!
3) Pat was extremely busy in high school. He wrote for the school paper, ran track, and acted in school plays. Share a memory of your extracurricular activities during high school. I was on the yearbook staff and actually designed the cover for the yearbook my senior year. I was in the band and loved the marching band best.
4) It was his track coach who introduced Pat to the new girl in school, Shirley Foley. Three years later Pat and Shirley married and remained man and wife for 65 years until her death earlier this year. Who is the longest married couple you know? Helen and her hubby, Al, were married 62 years when he died six years ago.
5) Pat has lived in the same house for more than 60 years. He once received an offer to sell it for $18,000,000 but turned it down because it's the Boone family home and he simply doesn't want to leave. Do you plan on moving in the foreseeable future? Nope! We moved here two years ago and this is where we will stay for as long as we are able.
6) Pat has a warm friendship with his neighbors, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. Pat has mentioned in interviews that he has enjoyed bike rides around Beverly Hills with Sharon. Tell us about one of your neighbors. I've written about our wonderful neighbors lots of times. We are blessed on both sides and across the street!
7) Mr. Boone was very critical of Barack Obama, enthusiastically supports Donald Trump, and has appeared on Fox News to express his views. How do you feel about celebrities talking about politics? Let's just say that Pat Boone has it right and very few of the others do.
8) In 1957, the year this song was popular, Dr. Ian Donald pioneered the use of ultrasound technology. Today ultrasounds are commonly used by doctors in diagnosing conditions affecting the eyes, blood vessels, kidneys, gall bladder and more. Have you ever had an ultrasound? Several times and just did this past week on the veins in my legs (getting ready for knee surgery in a few months).9) Random question: You're sitting alone in a restaurant, waiting for a friend. The waiter brings you a drink and the compliments of a member of the opposite sex seated at the bar. What's your reaction? I would probably laugh/snort! Are you flattered, shocked, embarrassed, intrigued or annoyed? Probably a little of all of those with the emphasis on annoyed.
Thanks for your visit!! We are enjoying having Joey here and I have pictures of him at the farm to share on Monday!
Peace & hugs!! God bless!!

Never accept a drink from a stranger. The next thing he'll want to borrow your lawn-mower.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Always liked Pat Boone...felt he was real and down to earth. As for celebrities and politics, I take what they say with a grain of salt. I do agree with Mr. Boone however!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeletePat Boone has been a positive roll model all of his life. I was saddened to hear of his wife's death earlier this year, but we know she is with the Lord.
ReplyDeletePat Boone is such an admirable man. And yes, Terri, he is on the right side.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
I, too, hold Pat Boone in pretty high esteem. I had to laugh at your comment about Blue Christmas. Remembering you said that some months back, I had to ask Alexa to play it for me so I could hear what you were talking about … and yes, I got the giggles.
ReplyDeleteIt's not the song OR Elvis... just those background singers! Yuck!!
DeleteHaha! That last comment made me laugh/snort!! So funny. You really are blessed with many good neighbors and I certainly wouldn't want to move away from that. Hope you and Joe get everything fixed up soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the last comment, lol. Hope you have a lovely rest of the evening, smiles.
ReplyDeleteI always liked Pat Boone. I tend to agree with him on politics but I definitely take everything anyone says with a grain of salt. I know the One who is really is charge!
ReplyDelete"Pat has a warm friendship with his neighbors, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. Pat has mentioned in interviews that he has enjoyed bike rides around Beverly Hills with Sharon."
ReplyDelete:) Cool!
So glad you are having a great visit with Joey, and we will be praying for Darlene next week. I loved Pat Boone, and have always appreciated his stand for his faith and that he lives what he believes. I remember these songs, but I was pretty young when they were popular. I hope all goes well for you as you contemplate knee surgery. Prayers are going up already on your behalf. Have a blessed weekend and Happy Palm Sunday tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on #7! Loved your answers! Have a nice day!
