Saturday 9...

Mighty Clouds of Joy

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's Saturday 9!

Saturday 9: Mighty Clouds of Joy (1974)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This song celebrates serenity. Are you feeling peaceful this morning?  Not especially. It is a working Saturday for me.

2) The lyrics include allusions to sun and clouds. How does the world look where you are? Is it sunny or cloudy?  Sunny with fluffy clouds after yesterday's clouds and rain.

3) This week's featured artist, BJ Thomas, is in the Grammy Hall of Fame for another hit record that uses weather as a metaphor, "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head." Make up a Hall of Fame that you believe you should be inducted into. (For example, Crazy Sam has inducted herself into The Meme Mistress Hall of Fame for her service to Saturday 9.)  Ha! Maybe the Crazy Cat Lady Hall of Fame.  I would be in good company with several ladies I know personally!

4) When Crazy Sam hears this song, she always sings along ... loud. Is there a song you simply cannot resist singing along with?  We listen to the 40s/50s stations on Sirius (because-Joe) and there are several I sing to.  How about this one that I remember my mom singing while working in the kitchen. Such a fun song!

5) BJ Thomas has performed this song at The Grand Ole Opry. The Opry has been broadcast on the radio every week since 1925, nearly 95 years ago! Of course, back in the 1920s, radio was the only broadcast media. Today we have other choices. Is listening to the radio part of your daily routine?  We listen to Sirius radio in the car but never at home.

6) Though their dress code is lenient, country music fans who attend the Opry for a live show are warned: "Just remember, there's one rule we take very seriously here at the Grand Ole Opry -- you must wear something." Easter Sunday is a day many of us dress up. What will you be wearing today?  Our church does not have a "dress code" so I usually wear slacks and a top but I plan to wear a maxi skirt instead of slacks for Easter Sunday.

7) Easter is recognized as the start of the spring season. What are you looking forward to this spring?  Getting my knee surgery scheduled when I see my ortho doc in May.  Yes - looking forward to it.

8) Lilies are popular at Easter. Do you have a favorite flower?  Lilacs and daisies.

9) Which would rather find in your Easter basket: yellow marshmallow chicks (aka Peeps) or a plastic egg filled with pennies?  I don't care for the Peeps so give me the pennies, please!

Thanks for your visit!  Happy Easter!

Peace & hugs. God bless!

  1. I would be in the Hall of Fame with you! lol I remember the song your Mom used to sing. I dont care for the peeps either so give me the pennies. We dont have a dress code at church, but being old fashioned and routine, I wear a skirt or dress to church and got a new red blouse to wear with my white skirt tomorrow. My favorite flower is gardenia.

  2. We seem to work opposite weekends. Because music is a big thing working with dementia patients I listen to a lot of music from the 40s and 50s as well, but I grew up with it as my dad would load the stereo up with his records on Sunday mornings and that's what I'd wake up to. :) I'm sure you are looking forward to your surgery...no more pain! Have a blessed and beautiful Easter!

  3. It will be a wonderful thing for you to take care of that knee! I was wondering why you were at work on Easter weekend, but realize it is a public place and open to visitors. Enjoy your Easter and be blessed! Love the Andrews Sisters! I'm impressed you can sing along with them. I can to a certain extent, but the Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy gets away from me!

  4. I had two knees done. My last one 8 months ago. Unfortunalley my Surgeon who did them. Was Killed. A huge Ton Truck Jackknifed him. He died a terrible death. He was 49. Chief of the department of surgery. I am still grieving .As when I look down at my knees it becomes memories. He was the most dedicated surgeon and his bedside manners were number one. Just remember never kneel down on your knees ever. I did with a pillow thinking that was okay. And I had to have husband help me up. I was lucky he was in at that time. Enjoy the Easter.

    1. I'm sorry you lost your surgeon so horribly! I am encouraged that your knees are good now! I need both done so this will be a journey for me. I haven't been able to get down on my knees for years so it won't be hard to remember. Thanks for the comment!

  8. Not expecting to be given any Easter candy here but that's okay. I have put together two small Easter buckets (not baskets) with some small things they grands can add to the baskets they'll be getting at their house.

    Happy Easter!

I'm so glad you're soon be getting your knees done. Mine have really bothered me lately, and it makes me think of you and how long you've dealt with this pain.
