** I am thankful for so many versions of "A Christmas Carol"!! We have been watching one every night. Joe loves the story but we are particular about the ones we watch. We like them to stay true to Charles Dickens' vision!
** I am thankful to be able to visit the farm (Joe's client) with Joe each week and enjoy the animals and wide open spaces! The clients are friends and we are having dinner with them tonight!
** I am thankful for this week off from my new part-time job and will be making some candy today and might get started on the cookies I want to bake.
** I am so happy to be planning our Christmas dinner with dear friends this year. Sorry to not have family here too, but we consider our friends extended family. There will be much joy around the table!

DeleteWe are blessed to live in this wonderful country, problems and all. Thankful as well for the good friends. Members of my family have not been able to carry on the traditions.
ReplyDeleteI told my good friend Cindy, my former professor and advisor who stopped by yesterday that she wasn't a friend, she is family (she was saying how family should come first-I was apologizing for not staying in touch due to my hectic schedule)---our friends are more like family--better than family was what I told her (unfort. that's the truth, Terri). I thought she was going to cry...as you know, neither of us have good relationships with our family, wish we did...and this time of the year, especially...smiles

DeleteWhat a wonderful list of things today! Christmas is what we make it. I'm finding more and more as we get older and as our world changes, I have to make adjustments to what I think the holidays should be like. The old traditions just don't always stand up to the demands of modern life. I took that pretty hard a few years ago, but I'm okay with it now. I don't think it's better, but I'm okay with it.

I soooo agree about dear friends who feel like family! This reminds me of something I saw on (the Hartsock's family) FB page. Kyle Hartsock wrote, "I don't have 3 step-daughters. I have three daughters who just happened to be born before I met them." Isn't that neat?

ReplyDeleteI watched a Hallmark Christmas movie last evening, first movie of the season for me. I'm not a fan of Hallmark movies, because I get tired of the predictable nature of them. I'm hoping to get to watch It's a Wonderful Life. That's our absolute favorite Christmas movie, hands down.
