Another holiday on Tuesday so I will post the questions
for Wednesday's Medley today.
Here is a medley of questions you may choose to answer on your Wednesday blog. There aren't any rules and there is no obligation. Link up if you want to. I'm doing this to fill my Wednesday (since we lost the Hodgepodge - and my hat goes off to Joyce Daley for 10-years of the Hodgepodge; this is not easy!) and if you are interested, then join in!! It might be fun!!
Today is NATIONAL SCIENCE FICTION DAY
National Science Fiction Day is celebrated annually on January 2nd by millions of science fiction fans across the United States. The date of January 2 was chosen for National Science Fiction Day as it corresponds with the birth date of famed science fiction writer Isaac Asimov. National Science Fiction Day is recognized by the Hallmark Channel and the Scholastic Corporation.
HOW TO OBSERVE
Watch some classic science fiction t.v. shows or movies. Start reading a science fiction novel. Use #ScienceFictionDay to post on social media.
1. Will you observe National Science Fiction Day as recommended above? Do you even like science fiction?
2. Have you chosen a "word" for 2019? Many people do. THIS QUIZ might help you find your word!!
3. Did you stay up to see the new year in? Are you happy or sad to see 2018 go?
4. I really enjoy the Tournament of Roses parade on New Year's Day but rarely get to sit and enjoy the entire parade because I am cooking. Did you watch the parade? Did you cook/eat the traditional foods (pork, black-eyed peas, kraut, greens...) to begin the new year?
5. I have to ask... Resolutions. Did you make any or set some new goals for 2019? Or do you even think about it?
6. Tell us something random about your week

A short weekend recap on Monday, because there isn't much to report! We didn't go to the farm (Joe's client) but I did have to work the day after Christmas, Thursday, and Saturday. Friday was laundry day. We went to lunch with Al & Theresa on Friday, at our new Jersey Mike's. Had fun meeting them there and enjoyed our subs! Saturday, I was really tired when I got home from work, so did as little as possible. On Sunday, we decided to visit one of the other three Presbyterian PCA churches to make sure we really want to stay at Covenant. Well, Joe can't stand "rock music" in church. We walked into Redeemer Presbyterian and there were drums and guitars on the 'stage'. He wanted to leave before we sat down. We had time to get to Trinity Presbyterian and the same thing happened. He just does not want to listen to loud praise music in church. Traditional hymns with a piano or organ, or nothing at all. Just for the record, I don't mind a little praise music, but I don't like it loud and more like a concert than church either. So, we didn't get to church yesterday... or we were at two, but didn't worship. After six weeks at Covenant, we are both feeling a little uncomfortable about a few things and finally talked about it, thus the visits at the other churches. We'll see how it goes from here...
I have work this morning, but the last patient is at 10:30 and the doc mentioned that we could probably close early. Of course, I don't get paid but that's okay. I need to finish cleaning after getting the decorations put away. How does the house get so dirty? LOL We will be at the Clubhouse for the New Year's Eve celebration tonight! Sharing a table with Al and Theresa. We have lots of snacks to share and a couple of bottles of wine. There will be a DJ and it should be lots of fun!!
I wish each of you a blessed new year!! Be safe if you are out and about!
Peace & hugs!! God bless!!
Have a safe Happy New Year!!!
ReplyDeleteWe have the same issues with the churches up here...the Lord has not led us to a new church home yet, sad to say.
ReplyDeleteKeeping you in prayer, Terri. Have a safe and Happy New Year.
Finding a new church is often hard in this day and age. The music is a huge factor. I am praying for you and Joe and you sift through it all and make your decision. For the record, I am not so much into the drums and guitars either, unless it's coming from the radio. But as you are seeing, those of our opinion are dwindling in number.
ReplyDeleteWishing both of you a wonderful and Happy New Year. When I lived in Florida, I finally found a Church that was quite large and had three services. The 8:30am was the shock and awe type of service! (LOL) but the 10:45 was a wonderful service with a large choir.
ReplyDeleteI thought I always wanted a small church but after all the wonderful activities, in the end it turned out to be a good choice. It may be the service you are going to?
Those churches only have one service, but there are mega churches here with several services and one is always "traditional". We are still looking.
DeleteYou're so fortunate to attend festivities without having to drive and concern yourselves with other drivers!
ReplyDeleteYa, I feel for your dilemma about finding a 'good fitting' church. The Unity church we used to attend (in Phoenix) was enormous, with a full orchestra and guest soloists … but never over-the-top (loud). Despite my disappointment in pastor's messages, I'm more content in our tiny congregation because of the people. Like the song says, there will come an answer. HAPPY NEW YEAR, dear friend!
Church is such an individual thing. I attend an old fashioned, hymn singing, no drums or loud music type church and we love it. The message is from the Bible and not just a man's opinion and that too is important to us. There are loving, caring people of all ages and it is my happy place. My prayer for you and Joe in 2019 is to the find the type church that 'fits' you.
ReplyDeleteCan you guess my New Year's resolution? You can join in too.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
How does the house get so dirty is a great question! Karl took down the outside lights yesterday. It is raining today, so not sure inside will get put away since it goes back outside in the shed. I am however cleaning the bathrooms today and washing the rugs.
ReplyDeleteI do not like loud music either. I find myself covering my ears at church because it hurts my ears..I usually go sit on the foyer until the music is over. We started watching online. I am not sure why they play the music so loud? Good luck with your church hunt. Happy New Year!
Thanks for posting the Medley! I am going to start working on it for Wednesday!

I completely understand how you and Joe feel about the music. My hubby and I would still be hunting too if we were in your shoes. Keep praying ... I am confident that God will direct you to the right church as you continue to look to Him.
ReplyDeleteHope you got an early finish. I also hope you find a church that meets your needs. If you're not comfortable with lots of music etc sounds like you definitely need somewhere more suitable. Yep the house always needs a clean when the decorations come down. Mine will get done at the weekend.
ReplyDeleteI have experienced lots of variety in church music and I pretty much love it all. I grew up with four-part a cappella in the Mennonite church. For many years as an adult I led a worship team of various instruments, sometimes drums, in more contemporary praise and worship music. Now in the UMC I lead with a few other instruments and we sing more traditional hymns and songs that were contemporary in the '80's. And I have a choir. At the later service we attend with Anthony and Lori the music is the latest contemporary praise and worship music and there are many instruments, including drums. But it's not overly loud at all. At Lisa's church in Florida the volume seems really loud.
ReplyDeleteI really hope you and Joe can find a church home you feel comfortable in.
