My Weekend Recap on Monday...

Backing up to Thursday, we had new friends, Mic & Laura, over for dinner. We had a great time getting to know them better and enjoyed food and fellowship. They are in our Bible study group.

On Friday, Helen and Cheryl invited us out to dinner at a new restaurant here in Lakeland.  Ford's Garage is quite a novelty and the food was delicious!!  Cheryl is driving now, and they picked us up! A nice treat for me to not have to drive and a treat for both of us to be invited out to dinner.

The sinks in the bathrooms are tires and the faucets are like

gas nozzles.  Too cute.  Door handles are all gas nozzles, too.

The burgers are all named for some of Lakeland's notable citizens.

I ordered the burger named for our city manager, Tony DelGado.

I know Tony well and worked with him on our Board at the Museum.

On Saturday, Joe had an appointment at the local VA Clinic, so we headed over there.  It didn't take too long. I amused myself by taking a selfie...

From there, we headed downtown for the annual ART CRAWL in our central Munn Park. Neither one of us is able to walk much. Joe gets out of breath and was going to hang out on one of the park benches while I checked out the artists.  We couldn't find a place to park. I was bummed.  We drove around a few blocks hoping someone would leave.  If we parked 3-4 blocks away in a parking lot, I would have been done before we got to the event.  My cortisone shots are still a week away.  Bad timing on my part.

The weekly Farmers' Market was also going on.  Had to miss that too.

Yesterday, Joe and I hosted a brunch for our immediate neighbors, to celebrate the return of our Canadian neighbors, Jill and Murray. There were eight of us and the food was well received and the company was great. We are so blessed with wonderful neighbors. I didn't get one picture. Can't believe I forgot to take pictures.  Our son, Joey, called while we were sitting down to eat and we asked if we could call later.  He said of course.

We called him back when everyone left and we got some very sad news. I would like to ask my prayer warrior friends to pray for our family, especially for our son, Joey, and daughter-in-law, Darlene, and her daughter Rita, and also for Darlene's mom, Cecelia.  Darlene's son, Steve, committed suicide on Saturday. It is (of course) such a shock. No hint about what he was thinking. Just a total shock. It is so hard to even process right now.

Life goes on. We all lean on our faith in Jesus Christ to keep us strong.
