I don't get out much (or remember to take pictures) because all I seem to have each week are just photos from the farm (Joe's client). So... here are new ones from our trip this week:

I was waiting for Joe to close the gate behind us.
And there he is... closing the gate.
I had Doc all to myself and he loved getting all of my
carrots. He even whinnied a bit when he saw me approaching!
I wondered why this rooster was out of the hen house and
was told that he is mean to the girls, pulling out their feathers
and causing distress in the coop. So now he is
free-ranging with the guineas. We will see how that goes!
Six cattle are being kept in a separate pasture for a while.

I so enjoy our time in the country!!
Joe has lab work at the VA clinic today. I will be doing some cleaning and prepping for our dinner guests on Saturday evening. Sunday we will be off to Covenant Presbyterian again to see how week two goes and then Al is coming over to help us get the Christmas decorations down from the loft in the shed. I won't be decorating until after Thanksgiving, though. I know some of you already have your trees decorated, but I just can't do it before the turkey is roasted and leftovers stored for soup and sandwiches!
A few of you asked about my interview and my job discussion in previous posts... I don't really want to go back to work, but we can really use some extra money right now and looking ahead to deductibles starting over with insurance in January, etc... Medications and hospital co-pays have taken their toll on our bank account. We are blessed indeed but are not wealthy by any means. I have applied for a part-time receptionist position in a family practice medical office. The hours are 9-1 Monday through Friday and alternating Saturdays. I have been praying about this and when I saw the advertisement in last Sunday's newspaper (where no one ever advertises anymore) I decided I should send my resume.
The doctor's wife called on Monday and wanted references and set up the interview for next Wednesday (before Thanksgiving). I don't know anything about the requirements but think I will be able to handle it if they take a chance on me. Fingers crossed! I'll gladly accept prayers too! I also hope they pay as well as McDonald's, or I will be going there next! (winking... halfway). Lots of stores need seasonal help, but I can't be on my feet (knees) for 4-5 hours at a time. Wish me luck with this, please! I haven't had a new job in over 20 years now!

There is nothing wrong with farm pictures. I always love seeing them. I've been thinking about going back to work too but I know my health just won't let me. I'll be praying that things work out the way that they are supposed to.

We also have some big decisions to make with healthcare, etc. In 2008 I was paying $189.00 per month for both Jack and I for full healthcare, dental, and vision. Now due to Obamacare we will be paying $1489.56 each month. It's been going up every year since Obamacare passed. This isn't quite as bad this year, but still more than we want to pay. Jack is disabled and although I have not applied for disability, my spine is causing too much pain for me to work outside the home. So I know what you are saying.

Love your pictures of the cows, rooster, Doc. What a peaceful, pleasant place to visit. Now, regarding your job. Praying it will work out for you if that is where you are meant to be. I am sure you can do the job just fine. Part time is good. I understand about the money issues. Retirement isn't easy on the pocketbook. One reason we are selling our house, hoping to make enough $$ to replenish our savings when all is said and done. If not, I may join you. Glad to hear you are trying a new church. Praying it will meet the needs you have for fellowship and worship. I know that is why we are moving to our new town, because of the church we have grown to love, and of course it helps that our son and wife live there too!! God bless you in all your new adventures.

Nothing at the museum, Rebecca Jo. It is a small staff and most have been there a long time. Lots of volunteer positions... but none paying.

ReplyDeleteTerri, I don't get out much for picture taking either and that's why I do lots of Sky pictures. Of course, I love sky pictures. Can't get enough of the beautiful sunsets. I certainly understand your dilemma and I think you would be an asset anywhere, especially in a doctor's office to be a calming presence when people come in. Happy Thanksgiving to you and Joe. I'm not decorating yet either. And oh man, thinking about Christmas. Whew.
