It's the Wednesday Hodgepodge!!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 352

Thanks to our Hodgepodge Hostess, Joyce, for this week's Hodgepodge.  Visit her HERE and join in the fun!!

     1. What would you say is your biggest day to day challenge?  Since retirement, probably keeping up with Joe’s appointments and mine, and doing it all with one car now.  Doing life with one car.

2. May 16th is National Biographers Day. What's a biography you really enjoyed reading
?  Mrs. Kennedy and Me: An Intimate Memoir, by Clint HillIs this a genre you read regularly?  No.  I don’t normally enjoy biographies or autobiographies.  Clint Hill was the Secret Service Agent assigned to Jackie Kennedy.  I really enjoyed it.

3. How important is keeping a clean house?
Very important.  I am blessed to have a cleaning service every two weeks.  Blessed. Do you need to de-clutter your life?  There is always something to de-clutter, but we just moved a year ago, so it isn’t too bad here yet. My life isn't very cluttered at all now that I am retired.

4. You're the 8th dwarf. What's your name?
Coughy.  Yes, I’m still coughing but not as much as a few days ago.

5. What's surprised you the most about your life or life in general?
How fast it goes.  Whoosh…..

6. Insert your own random thought here.
Joe’s visit to the pain management doctor (Dr. Latif) went well. He got four shots in his back and Joe says it feels better already.  His hip and leg are still painful though and that troubles him the most.  He also got a pain med to take (not opioid) that will hopefully make a difference in the hip and leg. The doc said to give it all a couple of days. Fingers crossed!

Happy Hump Day!!  Thanks for your visit!!  Peace & Hugs!!

  1. That biography sounds interesting. I may look for it at the public library. Thanks for the recommendation.

Happy day to you, too. I'm glad Joe's getting some relief and hope the trend continues with the new meds.

  7. Dad was taking shots for the pain in his leg/back but ended up having hip replacement. The other side bothers him but the shots work great on that side. I think it's a different issue. Pain can age a person. I'm glad Joe's getting some relief.

  9. It is the same here with the doctor appointments. It seems everybody answered about how quickly time flies. I certainly agree, but that wasn't my answer I hope you and Joe will be back to feeling right soon. I have someone who cleans every two weeks also and I really appreciate that. I can clean, but it is nice to be free from that.

  10. This makes two of Clint Hill's books I'm wanting to read! Democrat or Republican, I think those of us of a 'certain age' (lol) were all a little in love with Jackie.

    Prayers for Joe's continued relief!

  12. That sounds like a great book. I may have to check that one out. I always admired Jackie. And I do admire Melania, and would love to read more about her life someday. Glad to know that you and Joe are feeling better. Hope the cough goes away soon. Enjoy our rainy days...and I wish I could say I had no clutter...but you'd know I was telling a fib. LOL. Have a great day.

  14. We did life with one car way back when we were first married. It was a struggle then and I can't imagine doing it again. It would be an adjustment for sure! I dread moving but maybe if I empty out those closets and storage rooms it won't be so bad... :)

  15. Oh I hope Joe gets lasting relief! Chronic pain must be so difficult. Your mention of one car reminded me of how far removed we all are from a couple generations ago when my grandparents had eight kids, a small house, and one car. In this day and age, it's not easy getting along with one car. Crazy, isn't it. Anyway, have a good weekend, Terri. I'm starting early. Lol

I don't think coughy is a good name for you. I think your dwarf name is Cheery because you always have a cheerful outlook!

  20. Oh, so glad that Joe is feeling a bit better. I hope the pain meds he's on give him total pain relief. Several years ago, out of necessity, we were a 1-vehicle family for about 10 months. My car had bit the dust, and getting something new wasn't in the budget. It was difficult having only 1 car, but that's because my husband is still working. He had to take the vehicle (pickup) to work every day, so I was basically trapped at home, unless I took him and picked him up. In some ways, being without a vehicle was nice, as it really forced me to get off the crazy-busy cycle, but when I really HAD to go somewhere, it was a bit of a pain. Still, though, if my husband was retired, I think having only 1 car might work for us.

Yes, life does go so fast. We were just remarking on that today...it's my in-laws' 65 anniversary. We can't believe it's been 15 years since the big golden party. Seems like only a couple years ago, at most.

    Blessings,
    Patti

  21. I envy you your pain free knees. I am heartened to read of the improvements in Joe's health. I pray he continues to improve to the point of being pain free. You are so right about time passing by so quickly. The older I get the more quickly it seems to pass. SWMBO and I have been a one car family for a few years. It does take some getting used to. God bless and have a great week.

I have a cleaning service once a month and it's really nice! I do have to clean between, though, which isn't so nice!!!

  23. That does sound like a good biography! Thanks for sharing your thoughts about it.

Time certainly does fly. I've found that it flies whether we are having fun or not!

  24. I'm still praying for Joe! We too, are retired with one car. Good thing we like each other - we somehow find lots of things to talk about.
