Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 353
Our amazing hostess, Joyce, gives us the questions each week to answer and then link up with other Hodgepodgers on her blog HERE!! Join in!!
1. The last place you visited/patronized where you felt like you were given 'the royal treatment'? I blogged about our anniversary dinner at Bone Fish Grill. They found out it was our anniversary and brought us a free dessert with candles! We felt pretty special! Maybe not “royal” but at least well celebrated!
2. The last task you completed that was a 'royal pain'? Anything lately gives me a royal pain because I broke my stupid toe. My smart toe would not have gotten in the way, so it’s definitely my stupid toe that is broken. I am treating it myself by doing a ‘buddy splint’. There isn’t much a doctor can do for a broken toe. I just know it hurts like the dickens. April and May have not been good months for Joe and me, between miserable colds and arthritis pain and now a broken stupid toe.
3. How have your strengths helped you succeed? How have your faults hindered you? Oh my. My strengths are organization and (perhaps) good common sense and I used those for over 20 years in my last job. I believe I was successful. My biggest fault is that I don’t always have patience with myself or with others. Not having patience is never good. I work on it daily.
4. If you found a remote that could rewind, fast forward, stop and start time, what would you do with it? Oh gosh. This is such a loaded question. Do you answer broadly with world peace going back in time to fix things going forward? Or do you get your parents diagnosed earlier with cancer so they could still be with us (my brother, too)? Maybe it is just that we managed our money better…
5. Any special plans for the Memorial Day weekend? Yes! Mas Verde is having a potluck at the clubhouse and we invited Helen and Cheryl to join us. The HOA buys the meat (hamburgers, hotdogs, and ribs) and everyone else brings a dish to share. Will you in some way honor or recognize the meaning of this day (remembering people who died in service to their country)? We fly the flag and we do honor those who gave their lives that we can continue to live free in this great land of the brave!! Have you ever been to Arlington National Cemetery? Yes, I have been there several times. We lived in the metro-DC area for 12 years. Does your town do anything special to mark the day? There is a ceremony at Lakeland’s Veterans’ Park.
6. Insert your own random thought here. We have rain again today. I’m sorry for anyone who needs rain and wish I could send some of ours your way. It has been raining every day for well over a week and rain is predicted through the holiday weekend. Booo.
I took Joe back to the orthopedic doc today because the cortisone shot he got in his hip last week didn’t give him any relief at all. This time Dr. M gave him a needle in the hip joint, rather than in the bursa. Since Joe’s knee has also been hurting, he got a shot in the knee too. I sure hope he is feeling better in a couple of days. I’ve been getting cortisone shots in my knees for over five years now. The pain does not go away, but it does become manageable. We’ll see what a couple of days brings for him.
I am back on antibiotics. My cold has never gone away and is back with a vengeance this past couple of days. Seven weeks and counting. I’m SO tired of coughing and blowing. Yes… I’m whining again.
On that note, I’ll stop and just thank you for your visit today!! I thank Joyce for this week’s Hodgepodge!! Happy Wednesday! Peace & hugs!!

Sorry to hear your cold didn't get better. Hope the new shots help Joe.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a lot of rain here in NJ too. Our yard looks like a lake.
Have a great day!
We've had an abundance of rain here too, with more in the weekend forecast. I think last year was the same, so perhaps it's just May weather. There are pockets of sunshine and we'll snatch those when we can. I'm sorry you're still feeling puny and hope the meds help. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteBless your heart, a cold and a broken toe. I hope you and Joe are on the mend soon.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness Terri...broken toe, cold, Joe's ailments...keeping you both in prayer.
ReplyDeleteYes, it would be nice if we could share our rain with other parts of the country. We got somewhere close to 4 inches of rain yesterday afternoon in a real "dumper" (TV weatherman's word) of a storm. It was impressive. I'm so glad we did not have to be away from the house at the time.
ReplyDeleteSOOOO sorry for the physical ails that have lasted entirely too long!! And now an injury to the toe, too!
I'm working on my patience and endurance of things, too. You are not alone. May we both see progress soon! Love you, girl!
Goodness, the old cold lasting, and a broken toe.....praying both heal quickly and you dont have too much pain with the toe. Hugs
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday to you Terri! Hope you and Joe feel better soon. We sure could use some of your rain, my yard is thirsty.
ReplyDeleteTerri, I'm so sorry to hear that you are really struggling with a cold. I know what you mean about having enough of the coughing. I had bronchitis/walking pneumonia back in December and January. I coughed my head off for 2 months straight, and that led to incredibly sore chest muscles.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about your toe too. I hope it heals quickly. But, hey, your toes are painted beautifully.
Your Memorial Day picnic sounds fantastic. I hope the rain stays away long enough for everyone to enjoy the food and festivities.
I think if I had a time machine, I would go live in another decade. A result of watching too many 30's and 40's movies, I have a total fascination with those decades.
I think most of us struggle with having patience. You are not alone, believe me.
Have a wonderful day,
Patti
Dang, Terri! I'm so sorry to hear you're back on injured reserve. And Joe's constant pain has to be depressing. Praying!
ReplyDeleteI, too, could use a remedial course in patience. I hope when all of Tom's to-do's are accomplished he'll install a gizmo where we can safely (and proudly) fly the flag.
Oh, man, Terri, a returning cold and a broken toe? I'll sure be praying for you!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
No! You guys just can't catch a break. Praying you and your toe feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteOh Terri I do hope things pick up for you and Joe healthwise soon. You've had a really bad run and now a broken toe! I know how painful that it. Amazing how one small part of the body can hurt sooo much. Hope it heals quickly. Enjoy the weekend. Sounds like you will have fun even if it does rain!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh when I look at the photos of you - you two look so terrific. Hard to believe you are so sick - I am so sorry. And a broken toe on top of it all. Dang.
ReplyDeleteOh, awful. I hope your toe heals in record time and that the pain diminishes quickly. No fun at all.
ReplyDeleteHope you also have a wonderful day for Memorial day!
Wishing you a speedy recovery. Praying for you all.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Now I see your story about your broken toe...I am SO sorry to hear of this and I pray it will heal quickly...I know the old saying "it sticks out like a sore thumb"...probably the same could be said for a sore toe. Praying your cold will soon dissipate as well. I am SO sorry you are still fighting this thing. Praying for you and Joe now. May your weekend be blessed, and may your pain go away!!!
ReplyDeleteHello! I am sorry to read about your toe. Any injury to a weight bearing part of the body is incessantly painful. Maybe you can all on your hands for awhile. (Insert impish grin here) I'm sorry to read that the shots have not provided any relief to Joe. I had a shot in my knees which was as useless as a progressive democrat in a crisis.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Thanks for stopping by and for the encouraging comments.
I’m so sorry about your toe, I broke mine once and did exactly what you are doing. Tape it to the toe next to it and wait it out! I hope the rain stops for the long holiday weekend.
