Weekends sure go fast. Soon it won't matter as much but I've got one more to go!!
Saturday morning, Joe and I took off to look at golf carts. We found the place and we found what we want. Now we know how much to plan on spending. The dealer does annual maintenance on the carts, with a free pick-up and delivery which is a big plus. We weren't aware of how expensive the batteries are, so that was a shocker. Thank goodness they last 3-5 years. We'll have to start a savings so we can be ready for about $2,400 in new batteries. Whew!
Sunday is laundry day and that's about all that got done. Lazy, lazy, lazy. We got hooked on a show on Acorn TV called 800 Words. I mentioned it earlier this week, I think. Totally into it and now we have to wait who knows how long for the next season to come out. It's about a single dad (wife died suddenly) and his two teenage kids. They relocate from Australia to New Zealand. He is a writer. Catch it if you have access to Acorn TV.
Joe's ankle is better but there is still infection evident. Ice has been helping. I caught Vinny on top of the cupboards yesterday morning. He spends a good bit of time up there, usually sleeping.

Kim, there are six batteries and they cost around $400 each!! Yikes!
DeleteI have never given any thought as to the cost of the battery on a golf cart. That was an eye-opener. But I still think it's a good purchase for what you have in mind.

Yikes, that battery cost is surprising. I did not know that. But at least you can budget and plan. Let's pray both of our husbands get on the road to recovery. All these joint problems are no fun.
ReplyDeleteI knew I was retired when I got the Golf Cart.. you may want to shop around for the Batteries. Seems a bit high for what our crowd has been paying in my community. Everyone here usually buys refurbished carts... they look brand knew and run$1500 to $2500. With good batteries. Sad to say, a few "move on:" and become available. Nothing really goes wrong with them except the batteries.
ReplyDeleteWe are looking at refurbished ones too. The couple we really liked are 2014 models and they do a 2-year warranty on them. A little more than $2500. Will do some looking on-line. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteHe goes to the counter, then the top of the refrigerator and then on up. He thinks he is the lion king. The 'girls' don't go up there, so it is his own private space.
DeleteWow! I hope those batteries don't wear out too often. Aren't the rechargeable? I don't know much about it. We don't need a golf cart out where we live...too much sand. If anything, we need a 4-wheeler ATV. I do hope Joe's ankle gets better soon. Vinnie seems to be the king of his domain! Your retirement date is coming really soon now! ReplyDeleteWe have a Volt and so I know those big batteries are expensive. I am wanting to get rid of our car before we need to replace it. Vinny has found a place to keep an eye on you all and have some privacy, too. I'm glad Joe's ankle is doing better.
ReplyDeleteWe will be shopping for a golf cart at some point too. Probably not until fall since the summer is getting away from us. You can find them used here, and we might go that route. I spent today doing laundry after a weekend of house guests. Feels like an accomplishment : )

ReplyDeleteI, too, had no idea batteries were that dear! Tom and I both had to replace our cars' batteries this year. Our here, 2 years is about their maximum shelf life.
It's two years here, too, Myra. The heat is a killer.

ReplyDeleteBill has an older car - - not an antique - - but he likes driving it occasionally. We had to have a new radiator and some other odds and ends. They are MUCH MUCH CHEAPER with them and they deliver fast! We have a mechanic who is very reasonable and does NOT over-charge.
Just for curiosity - - - check out their prices for wiper blades - - - unbelievably cheaper than a garage or even AutoZone.
They may not have golf cart batteries but if you don't see them listed, it would not hurt to email and ask them. Their customer service is great!
