It seems funny doing a weekend recap when I am off today and tomorrow, making this a LONG holiday weekend.
I'll start with Friday. I had lunch with my girlfriends, Cindee and Shirley. We met downtown at a popular restaurant called Fresco's. I had a delicious Reuben and their signature mac & cheese. After a stressful week at work, comfort food was just what I needed....that and time with dear friends. Cindee brought her photo album of pictures from her vacation in Paris. It was so fun seeing her and her hubby in front of the Eiffel Tower. Heather couldn't come, so we didn't get to hear about her trip to England. Her mom is still in England and isn't doing well, so her travel 'home' is not really a vacation. Shirley and her hubby Don just got a new dog from the SPCA. Their sweet 19-year old Babe died a few months ago and they have missed having a pup in their lives. We are happy for them to have 9-year-old Tinkerbell now!!
Saturday was just a lazy day. We did get out to Publix for some grocery shopping. Joe had an appointment with a client at 1:15. I used the time they were meeting to clean out a drawer that was still stuffed with minutia from the move. When the movers told us we could load up dresser drawers, we did just that. I still have a few drawers to get to, but the one I did was the worst...so that's done!
We went to Mass at 4:00 and then out to eat. We ran into a couple of 'old' friends at church and had to spend a few minutes talking to them on the way out.
I took a couple of photos of our sweet kitties, Vinny and Lucy. Lilly will not sit for a photo so I rarely get her image.
Sunday, we decided to not go to the beach because of weather. As it turned out, it was sunny and hot until around 6:00 p.m. when the sky let loose. We did get some shopping done at Walmart and at Sam's Club. We ran into friends at Sam's and spent a few minutes catching up with them. It was also laundry day. That may have to change when I retire. What day is your laundry day?
Today we are celebrating the 4th a day early with Helen and Cheryl, who are coming over around 3:00 for burgers, corn on the cob, baked beans and watermelon. Tomorrow Joe and I are going to the clubhouse, here at our Mas Verde, to celebrate with neighbors. They are having burgers, hot dogs and ribs with residents contributing side dishes. It's to be our first foray into the community at large. I'll be sure to tell you all about it!!
Remembering the great Patriots who had the courage to declare independence and fought for our freedom from tyranny and taxation without representation. I hope history won't have to repeat itself.

My laundry day(s): Monday = clothing; Wednesday = towels; and then I do other laundry on an as=needed basis.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the movers telling you not to empty out the dresser drawers for the move -- oh yeah! But in this house we have the chests of drawers in entirely different rooms (purposes) from the last house. So it's crazy finding things. But all fun. So glad to be a sister Floridian with you, Terri!
My laundry day is everyday. I do at least one load a day. Hubby helps out with that a lot.

ReplyDeleteI try and do a load of laundry each day - - - makes it easier than all at once - - - but sometimes I will still do most of it in one day. That is the thrill of retirement - - - do what you want when you want - - - and you are on the short countdown!!!!

ReplyDeleteI think the built-in community of a retirement community is one of the things I would like most. I live in the same neighborhood I grew up in and at one time everyone knew everyone else and as a child I called all the neighbors Aunt and Uncle. Now I only know the ones right around me (who are the same ones who've always been here). All the younger generations keep to themselves.
Both your kitties are cute, but that gray one is gorgeous!
Oh, by the way, Sunday Stealing is continuing on...at least for now. Bev Sykes is taking it over. Since she writes theater reviews perhaps the questions will improve.

ReplyDeleteI do my laundry usually during the week when I'm working out - put it in before I work out - take it out afterwards. Fold after dinner. Routine is routine ;)
Since I retired, years ago, laundry day is any day I feel like doing it. If I plan on one day and something comes up, I change it to another day! You can do that when you're retired!

ReplyDeleteI'm convinced cleaning out 'junk' drawers is totally therapeutic. Unfortunately, I have to wait 'til the mood strikes, and I'm reluctant to stop and just one. LOL.

Oh comfort food....this has been a bad few days here. Marvin is suffering with Sciatica. When he feels bad so do I. Today was a bit better, hoping for blue skies soon.

ReplyDeleteMy laundry day is usually Wednesdays while I'm here doing food prep for Anthony and Lori. Dick always folds the laundry while he watches TV in the evenings.
