Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 312
Our hostess, Joyce, gives us this Hodgepodge of questions to answer, then we link back to her blog to join other Hodgepodgers! Click HERE to join in the fun. Thanks Joyce!!
Here we go-
1. When and where were the best fireworks you've ever seen? In my mind and heart, it is from when I was maybe six or seven years old at the local park with my family. None have been bigger, louder, or more fun! Speaking of fireworks...do you know your hot buttons? Indeed. The things people can say and/do to set you off? Yes. Don't put down my country, my religion, my family or maliciously hurt animals, children or the elderly. When was the last time someone pushed one of your hot buttons? The media pushes it daily, which is why I stay away from the front pages of newspapers and the evening news.
2. Have you hosted any outdoor summer parties this year? No. Attended any? No. What makes for a great outdoor party? Florida's winter temperatures, not the 98° temps and 95% humidity we are having now!
3. What does freedom mean to you? It surrounds our entire way of life. It means everything to me and should be protected at all costs.
4. July is National Cell Phone Courtesy month...what annoys you most about people's cell phone habits? That a phone call or text is more important than the face-to-face conversation 'we' were just engaged in before the beep or ringer sounded.
5. What's your current summer anthem? With a smile on my face, "Take This Job and Shove It"...... (though I do love my job and have for over 20 years!)
6. Insert your own random thought here. The holiday this week makes for a short work week. We are looking forward to two of our grandchildren visiting this weekend, with their mom (our former daughter-in-law) Kathy. This will be their first visit to our new house and we haven't seen Tristan since the weekend before Christmas and longer than that for Lauren. Yes, there will be photos!!
Thanks for your visit to my Hodgepodge today! Thanks to Joyce for the meme!
Peace & hugs!!

That's a great anthem!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
I agree with the Florida weather.... and wow the lightening and thunder. Record rain for June and we are off to a swell start here in July !!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy time with your grandchildren! I can't wait for some time with mine very soon : ) Thanks for your kind thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteClose to retirement, are you? ;)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time with your grandchildren!!!!
I love your summer anthem, smiles. Have a beautiful day in sunny and hot Florida. smiles
ReplyDeleteI agree 100%. "Don't put down my country, my religion, my family or maliciously hurt animals, children or the elderly". I wonder if you went back to the same fireworks would you think they were as big as when you were little. We went back to somewhere where we had been when Andy was little and we thought it was bigger than it was! Happy 4th. sandie
ReplyDeleteSince it was 60 years ago, Sandie, I imagine it has changed hugely!! The location is probably gone. It was a small city park.
DeleteYes, the media, Facebook, and some extremely liberal bloggers do like to push our buttons!
ReplyDeleteI did not enjoy Florida in the summer, but I was pregnant so maybe it wasn't quite as bad as I remember it?
Again, a big yes! to #4. Am I so boring that you feel free to take a call or text or check Facebook while I'm talking?
Have fun with the grandchildren, as I know you will. Retirement looms...........
ReplyDeleteI agree totally about having to avoid the media these days Terri. It is a shame that Walter Cronkite is not here to give us our news...or Huntley and Brinkley.:)
ReplyDeleteI just wish there were such a thing as a journalist, rather than everyone being a commentator. Enjoy time with the kids. Did I ask you if you're marking off the days on the calendar to the big 'R' ?? Our weather is like yours today except 10 degrees cooler with the same humidity. My printer paper is limp!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great weekend coming up! I love that they're coming to visit their grandparents.
ReplyDeleteJest or not, I chuckled out-loud at your summer anthem. (Lovin' me some Johnny Paycheck!)
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with what you said about the media. Talking heads...
A visit from the grandkids will be wonderful! Enjoy your time together.
ReplyDeleteOh, I know you're so looking forward to seeing grandchildren. I already dread the day that ours are grown and the time between visits gets longer. :( I'm soaking up every minute I can have with them now! Sorry to be so slack in visiting (seems I say that a lot, huh)....time surely gets away from me and I just can't stay indoors in the summer!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving this short work week!
ReplyDeleteCell phones......What annoys me.....people talking on them louder than they need to. Ha! Ha! I don't need to hear their conversation.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your random thought. I love being a grandparent too. SWMBO and I cherish the time spent with our grands. Your cellphone annoyance is spot on as well. People ought to practice being present and should not worry about their damned phones. To me it's a matter of priority and manners. Enjoy your time with the kids. God Bless your retirement!
