Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 315
Before I post this week's questions, let's pause for a public service announcement-there will not be a Hodgepodge next week (August 2nd). The Hodgepodge will be back in action the week after (August 9th). Thanks!
Thanks to Joyce for this week's Hodgepodge! Join in HERE and link up with other Hodgepodgers!! Joyce is on Grandson alert right now!! I'm excited too! Please keep us posted!!
1. We've reached edition number 315 here in the Wednesday Hodgepodge. So tell us, what were you doing at 3:15 yesterday? I was at work, wishing I could take a nap after lunch out and a cake to celebrate my retirement when we got back to the office. Is that typical? No, it is not typical! On a scale of 1-10 (with 1 being low and 10 being high) what's your energy level usually like at 3:15 PM? Even without cake, it is usually a 3 or 4. I really do fade in the late afternoon.
2. A frisbee, a tantrum, a towel, a party, a punch, or a curveball...which have you most recently thrown or had thrown at/for you? This week seems to be a party week!! Elaborate. I asked that they not make a big deal of my retirement - no formal party or having to make speeches. So they are doing something for me every day this week, it seems. Monday was my wall of cat signs, yesterday was lunch out and a cake and balloons. Today is breakfast at the staff meeting and Thursday is lunch out with a bigger group (Joe included). I'm only here half a day on Friday so maybe Thursday will be the last of the celebrations. I'm enjoying it and am really touched that they are doing so much.
3. What are three things that would help you right now. Actually, three more days to finish the work that isn't going to be finished by my last day. Tell us how or why. Just because it is a little complicated and there is a lot that I do that I don't even think about. I want to leave my desk so that no one has to wonder what the heck should be done with 'this' or 'that'.
4. Do you think you're strong? Yes. Why or why not? I'm still sane and not on meds after a divorce, horrid cancer deaths in my family, dealing with my own cancer, Joe's medical problems, and dealing with a grandmother who was extremely difficult before she died. What makes you strong? Faith. My Sweet Jesus.
5. Do you enjoy reading historical fiction? Yes, my favorite. What's your favorite book set sometime in the past? I've read some really good ones, but have to mention Gone With the Wind. The Outlander Series takes us back to early Scotland which was also interesting.
6. Insert your own random thought here. I'm so done with numbers and my job. I love the Museum and the great folks I work with, but I am so over the job now. Twenty plus years...I'm tired of accounting rules, auditors, and ERISSA, and all the paperwork necessary today that was not necessary 20 years ago. Sigh. Come on Friday!! I'm ready!!
Thanks for peeking in today!! Happy hump day! Peace & hugs.

Enjoy! Many good memories for you.
ReplyDeleteThe countdown has begun...2 more days, 2 more days, smiles.
ReplyDelete<3 you answers to #4....faith and our sweet Jesus!!! I'm so happy for you, my Friend....hang in there...only 2.5 more days!
ReplyDeleteI love that your co workers are doing something for you every day. How special. I am like you, those formal meals make me a bit anxious. I am so excited for you Terri. I know you and Joe will be enjoying your days of leisure. ( well except for laundry, cleaning etc.lol)
ReplyDeleteAw, how special that your co-workers are making the entire week special for you. I can't believe retirement day is almost here!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine trying to make it through life's trials without Jesus by my side, and I see you feel the same.
I chose Gone With the Wind, as well.
Enjoy the rest of your week,
Kathy (Reflections)
Those folks are so going to miss you! It's obvious from the way they are doing all those things for you. I loved Gone with the Wind and have read it many times.
ReplyDeleteLet the good times roll!
Hang in there, it's almost Friday.
ReplyDeleteWow Terri, it's actually almost here! I'm so glad they're doing fun things for you this week. Twenty years is a real accomplishment. I can't help thinking that you're going to miss it... NOT! Lol. Anyone reading your blog knows that you have amazing strength. And that you attribute it to God's grace. Blessings as you forge ahead into the unknown world of retirement. xo
ReplyDeleteFriday is coming quick - you did a great job. I get tired in the afternoons too. I think when someone comes to your desk to take your job they will wonder how in the world she did it! I like the Outlanders series too. Sandie
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your very near retirement! Glad parties are being thrown for you. I enjoyed reading your answers.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to know you're appreciated by your colleagues, sounds like you're having a great last week but probably not making it easy to get all those things ticked off your to do list! I have Gone with the Wind on my to be read pile.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for your last day! Then Y'all will have plenty of time to come visit us. :) I'm glad they're showing their love for you at work. It's nice to be appreciated.
ReplyDeletecounting down the minutes and hours and days with you! I know EXACTLY how you feel, having done exactly that almost 2 years ago now! I wake up every day now and face the day with peace, joy and relaxation...well, almost... anyway, I know you will LOVE being retired. No, don't add the 3 more days. They will figure it out. Go home and forget about it, okay??????
ReplyDeleteHow nice that your coworkers are doing something every day to show you how much they value you and will miss you. So many retire and that's....it.
ReplyDeleteOnly one more full day of work and then half on Friday. Retirement is becoming so very real for you!!
ReplyDeleteYou have made a most positive impression on your co-workers and you will be missed -- but let them figure out [whatever] after you are gone. I feel certain you have done all a human can do to leave things in good order.
No matter the size of my lunch, I always wilt in mid-afternoons! Remember Robert Fulghum's "Kindergarten" poem where he championed naps every afternoon?
ReplyDeleteI agree. Given what life's thrown, you're very strong. Nice that you and Joe have one another to fall back on, (on) those days you're not feeling it! Blessed!
I always felt like I did so much more preparation for my replacement whenever I left a job than was done for me when I started. I do think that when you know you soon will not have to put up with difficult aspects of a job it becomes even harder to endure it the last few days and weeks.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your retirement. I hope that your transition goes smoothly and that nothing but blessings come your way and that you enjoy your new life.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you for your witness by your answer to question #4. I regret that I didn't make that same observation. Thanks for visiting my blog page and for you kind comments and prayers on SWMBO's behalf.
