Our long holiday weekend has ended. Sure went fast. We had such a nice time with Joe and Darlene here (and the grandpups). I wrote about Thanksgiving and have read about most of yours, so let's go to Friday.
Friday, Joe and Joey ventured out to Home Depot and came back with one of the scatter lights that Joe decided he didn't like, but now does. LOL We turned it on last night and it looks good. (No picture yet - later.) No climbing on ladders this year!! We did little else. Just chilled.
Saturday we got up early again because we still had the neighbor's cats to take care of. They got home early evening on Saturday and said the cruise was great. We were happy to turn it back over to them and were able to sleep in on Sunday morning.
We went downtown to the Farmer's Market and walked it back and forth, then went to the Lakeland Brewing Company for some lunch. Joey and Darlene enjoy craft beers so we thought they would enjoy it and they did. The City has finished putting Christmas decorations in Munn Park (our "central park" downtown). We picked at the last of the leftovers for our dinner.
Sunday we slept in a bit and then we went out to breakfast at Reececliff. Good stuff. Back home for some TV (all of us hooked on The Walking Dead). Talk about a slugfest....
I made a big pot of soup with the leftover dark meat (Williamsburg Inn Turkey Soup). I love that soup and make it every year after Thanksgiving but I do not follow the recipe exactly. I don't cook the carcass and I use chicken broth instead of the water (since I'm not boiling the bones). Everything else goes, however. It is delicious.
This is the front of the house.
So, that was our weekend. Back to work today.....sigh. Retirement is coming closer and closer.
Thanks for your visit! Peace & hugs.

My husband made a pot of turkey soup...I just don't care for it...its not him, just the soup, smiles. Hope you have a lovely day, Terri.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a fun holiday weekend - I'm going to try that soup :-)
ReplyDeleteI went over and looked at the soup recipe...it sure looks good! Mr D and I love soup this time of year. Hope you have a Marvelous Monday!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe mansion is going to be beautiful. I love the rounded corners.
Have a great day!
Such cute dogs! (OK, I'm a 'dog' person.) I bathed mine last night. They where so dirty I could have planted potatoes on them. *lol* The McMansion is coming right along, I see. Hope they'll let you see the inside. Now it's time for me to climb up in the attic to retrieve the pre-lit Christmas tree and all the decorations. Are we having fun yet? ;)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a perfectly lovely weekend. I always like the laid backness of Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteSounds like an easy, but enjoyable weekend. I love soup so will have to look this recipe up for sure. Hope work isnt too busy this week.
ReplyDeleteSend Joey and Darlene up here. We have a great micro brewery in Dallas, VALKYRIE Brewing Company. Sounds like a nice time. What a darling dog!

ReplyDeleteYour grand-pooches are adorable!
... or, are your kitties going, "Um, not so much?"
The cats hate it when the puppies visit.
DeleteWhat a nice weekend. That little pooch is so cute. I would love that soup but hubby on a feeding tube so I don't cook much anymore. I sure ate a lot at the kids Thanksgiving, lol... Hugs, lj
ReplyDeletesounds like a super weekend... the best kind. Glad you had a great holiday
ReplyDeleteLove the doggie pictures. They look like they felt completely at home with you!
ReplyDeleteI know you will be happy when you can finally retire and not have those Mondays...I love not having to get up and go on Monday, even though I still get up and go...just not to work! Haven't missed it a bit. Love the pictures..that mansion sure looks interesting! I guess I just don't know why people need such huge houses unless they are running a bed and breakfast or something! LOL. Lots of bathrooms to clean...Ugh! :) Have a blessed and happy week.
