Linking up with Debbie over at Breathing In Grace for Friday Foto Friends.
I was up early to get the meal started. I have an electric roaster and our 20-pound turkey only took two and a half hours to roast. To save room in the kitchen, Joe always sets up a table in the garage for me to put the roaster on. It works great! I prepared mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, mac & cheese, a pickle plate with jelled cranberries and beets too, a corn casserole, green beans with almonds, yeast rolls, stuffing, and gravy. Helen brought pies (berry, pecan, and pumpkin) and Cheryl made a cranberry jello salad. I'm happy to say we will eat good tomorrow and probably the next day too!
Joe and Darlene (and the puppies) arrived from Georgia right at 12:30. Helen and Cheryl came at 2:00 and we sat down at the table around 2:45.
That photo is the only one I took. I can't believe I didn't get a picture of people, but I didn't. So that is it for this week's Friday Foto Friends. In spite of only one photo, we had a great meal, great conversation and lots of love around the table.
Today we are going to just chill a bit. Joey is going to help get Christmas lights up on the outside of the house and all of the boxes we need out of the attic for us. On to the next holiday!
Thanks for your visit! Peace & hugs!

Can you believe I didn't get photos either? I meant to as my son even wore dress shirt and nice pair of pants (usually he wears shorts in the house--even in the dead of winter). Anyways, glad all went well...and I'm still in a food coma, grinning.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a yummy stress-free dinner. Your table looks so pretty.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
So good to enjoy family and friends on this special holiday. Your table looks so nice. We didnt take many pictures either....too busy eating!
ReplyDeleteLooks yummy and the best thing about Thanksgiving is LEFT OVERS!! As one friend said, Pie for Breakfast!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful table! I'm all about the leftovers...that's why I like to get a bigger turkey than is needed! :)
ReplyDeleteI sent leftovers with Daddy & with OS, but I made sure to keep some here!
Have fun decorating!!!
Picture perfect!!
ReplyDeleteBe careful getting those Christmas lights up! I'm hoping to get our porch tree up today and maybe some lights out there as well. Only 2 1/2 hours to roast a 20# turkey?? I need that roaster! I always get up in the middle of the night to put the turkey in the oven (except this year we didn't have company)and then of course can't get back to sleep, so I spend the day sleep deprived. What kind of roaster is it? That's a brilliant idea, Terri! Have a wonderful chillin' weekend. xo
ReplyDeleteMine is over 25 years old, but it is like this one: https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=electric+roaster+turkey&tbm=shop
DeleteI only use it at Thanksgiving (or if there is a large gathering). But seriously, the turkey was just under 20 pounds. I put it on at 10:00 and it was done at 12:30.
Nice looking table!
ReplyDeleteI seldom think to take photos of dinner these days. I don't know when that started happening. I grew up with my dad ALWAYS having a before shot of the table, a during dinner shot, and then an after pic.
The only thing I photographed was the food, so, you know where my priorities are now! *lol* Great looking table. We're both down with raging head colds. As soon as that passes, it will be time to decorate for Christmas. Right now we're hiding in the A/C trying to shake this thing. Hope it passes everyone else's door by. ~:)
ReplyDeleteThe only one you took was a very special one. Love it! And now ... a photo with the Christmas lights :-)
ReplyDeleteWell, your photo is lovely...the table is beautiful...and I can just hear the laughter and chatter...just like our house I am sure! Enjoy your family and concentrate on being together and being happy. That's what really counts!!!
ReplyDeleteYour table looks warm and inviting. I should remember to put out my mother's pickle plate at Christmas. The beets lent much color, yes ... but I don't recall anyone ever eating them!
ReplyDeletePS - I used to have the same pattern stoneware!
Your meal sounds delicious! So glad you were able to spend time with your family. That always makes it special. Your table looks beautiful. Unlike you I took 40 pictures. I think I made up for you taking one!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a fantastic family time. It's always nice when others pitch in to make things easier.
