Thankful Thursday with Rebecca Jo....

Linking up with Rebecca Jo, at Knit By God's Hand, for Thankful Thursday.

FAMILY.

I say it often and I mean it. I am so very thankful for my family.  What a blessing they all are, on both sides.  Contemplating this after losing a dear member of our family.

We will not be going north for our sister-in-law's funeral.  They aren't having one.  Joan will be cremated today.  There will be a memorial Mass the day after Thanksgiving.  An impossible time to travel.  Joe's brother, Lou, told Joe that he wasn't expecting us to be there.  Our son, Jeff, is planning to go and he will represent our family.  Jeff lives in Alexandria, VA, which is just around the DC beltway from Bowie, MD.

Joan was a great mother and a beloved wife of 60 years.  This family photo was done for their 50th anniversary and shows the legacy....

They have four kids, Lou, Jim, Linda, and Lisa.  Grandkids Emily, Anthony, Jackie, Nikki, Lexie, Gina, Alaina and Nicholas.  Daughters-in-law, Peggy, and Mary.  Son-in-law Larry (deceased). Now, two grandsons-in-law not pictured, Stephen and Dimitri.

I felt the need to record something to make some sense of Joan's untimely death.  We are glad that she didn't suffer long, but were not prepared and now won't be able to say goodbye at the service.  She knew we loved her and we know she loved us. That's what really matters.

Thanks for indulging me!  I appreciate your visit.  Peace & hugs!

  2. What a lovely legacy she and her husband have. That warms my heart. It's really special. It must be nice to have such a loving family. Treasure the moments because none of us know when the LORD will call us Home.
    Have a blessed day.

  5. Oh, I am so sorry. I know you are still reeling from your trip to Ohio for the funeral of your grandmother. What a shock to lose another loved one so soon. Thinking of you and your family and praying for your comfort and strength. May God's peace be yours today. (((hugs))))

  7. What a sweet family image! I hope that's what your BIL and children choose to remember ... the happy times.

Gracious, I'm going to lapse into a lyric from 'The Way We Were' in a moment. Funny, how that song takes on greater meaning as I've grown older. (HUGS!)

  9. Sad times Terri, especially as you will miss the service for Joan but I'm sure you will have said prayers for her and pay tribute to her in your own way.
