Hodgepodge is back!!

Hodgepodge is back, after taking last week off!  Please join in the fun!!  Answer the questions, link up to share and enjoy!  Thank you Joyce, From This Side of the Pond!!

1. What's a phrase your mother often said to you? If you're a parent, is this something you now say to your own children?  I'm sure I've said it to my step-sons and I've also mentioned it to many over the years:  "You have to know when to leave the party...." (to keep your reputation intact).

2. What is a scent you associate with your mother or your childhood home?  She wore Chanel #5 on special occasions only, but the scent most associated with her is food!  Pot roast; vegetable soup; chicken & noodles; wilted lettuce.... kitchen smells take me home.

3. What's an activity you remember always doing with your mother (or someone who was a mother figure in your life)?  Going to church; cooking; shopping...

4. Flared jeans, maxi dresses, and jumpsuits are 70's fashion trends back this spring. Are you on board? Which trend would you be most inclined to try? For the men...flared corduroys, wide-collared shirts, and floral prints...what say you?  Oh, the 70s.  Please!  Well, I do have a couple of maxi skirts and dresses in the closet and I always wear boot cut jeans now (but not bell bottoms!).  Joe has none of it in his closet.

5. May 6th is Teacher Appreciation Day and also Nurse Appreciation Day. Is there a nurse or teacher  you have especially appreciated along the way? Tell us why?  I have deep appreciation for ALL teachers and ALL nurses, but my sisters and sister-in-law are teachers, and my BFF Elaine is a nurse, as is a cousin and several of my blogging friends are teachers and/or nurses.  They all go above and beyond to help form minds for our future, and to heal those who are sick.  God bless them/you!

6. If I came by your house, what would I find on your frig door?  Magnets, grocery lists, menus....

7. Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana made her royal entrance on Saturday, May 2nd. On a scale of 1-10, how much attention did you give to all the news coverage? 1=Who's Charlotte? 10=sat glued to the telly, cuppa in hand.
Probably a 3.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.  I spent the last two afternoons listening to a webinar on cash flow projections and statistics.  Day one was productive and gave me an idea or two; day two was the most boring three hours I've spent in a long, long time.  My work paid good money for it, so I had to stick it out but it sure is miserable when you know nothing they will say is going to apply to your situation.  Do you know what I mean?

Thanks for coming by my Hodgepodge today!  Wishing you a good Wednesday!  Peace & hugs.

  3. I love your answer to #1...great advice, and so true!
As for webinars, I think they should sell those for sleep aids :)

  4. What is webinar? Am I missing out on something good? lol #4....no thanks, none of those. Liked the phrase your Mother used...good advice. I love Chanel #5, but my Mother wore Estee Lauder 'Youth Dew' and I keep some here and when I use, I always close my eyes and remember. Have a good Hump Day!

    1. Linda, a webinar is like going to a seminar but you watch it on your computer from the 'comfort' of your office. Some companies put them on a big screen in an auditorium or conference room. This one was kind of expensive, from the Association of Financial Professionals (AFP). I'm sorry, now, that we spent so much one it since the second day just did not apply to my work at all. I stuck with it, though, in case something clicked.

  5. Loved reading your answers, Terri. My mother in-law always wore Chanel #5 on special occasions too. The scent that reminds me of my mom is furniture polish...LOL. I would come home from school and she would be polishing our living room tables...also the smell of breakfast cooking always brings back memories of my childhood and her. That's a bummer that the webinar you had to watch didn't do you much use. I bet you were thinking the whole time that you could be getting so much more done than watching your computer screen. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

  6. Is this a newish blog look? I'm so out of the loop, maybe it just feels that way : ) I like it. Kitchen smells take me home too. I dislike wasting time, so understand your frustration. Plus all that number talk would make it hard for me to concentrate-ha! I think you're a numbers person so you might not have that problem. Enjoy your day!

    1. Joyce, I change my blog background about once a week or so. This one has been up since the weekend, I think.

  7. "You have to know when to leave the party...." That's a good quote although I've not heard it before.

And yes, it is so hard to sit through something that has no value for your circumstances.

  8. My mama always was know for her cooking. As for sayings, my family would say things like "If your gonna play, you have to pay the fiddler." LOL! Stopping in from Hodgepodge!!

  9. The webinar sounded tedious. To be honest my eyes tend to glaze over when the subject of business finances come up. I admire people who have a genuine interest in the subject. Thanks for stopping by my blog and for leaving a comment.

  10. I know what you mean by that last one. I sure don't miss those horrible conferences we used to have with the Director of Studies all those years ago. I think my mother's favourite answer was because, and sometimes that is the only answer to the qusetion.. Again lots of your answers would be mine. Enjoy your day!

  11. What a waste of your time the webinar sounds. I like the leaving the party quote :)

  12. You gotta know when to leave the party - that is a good one! My mom used to say - Springtime in Atlanta is not a season, it is a blessing - and yes I have said that too!.

  13. These are fun answers this week. Wishing you a blessed Mother's Day weekend. I'm taking a break from my blog. The foot MRI shows significant damage and I am being referred to a specialist in Atl. Hope to be back soon. xoxo

  14. I know EXACTLY what you mean for your random!!! I wish I had a penny for every minute I've sat in meetings that have nothing to do with me!

  15. I have had to do webinars like that too. The minutes creep by...
I have much more interest in the royal family than Bob - I'm probably a 6, he thinks it's crazy! I love her name.
