- Blogging friend, Linda (Just Simply Linda) mentioned the TV show "Killing Jesus", in her blog a few days ago. We DVRd it to watch on Easter Sunday. If you get a chance to see it, you really must. It is SO well done. It brings the Bible to life in a way none of the other movies have (in my humble opinion). Thanks for the review, Linda! I'm so glad we saw it.
- I baked a Sweet Italian Easter Bread for my Joe. Last year's was a disaster. This year's turned out pretty good. I have trouble working with yeast, so was happy that it stayed alive and worked for me!! He was happy!
- Helen and Cheryl came over yesterday, when their church (United Methodist) service was over. They brought with them a delicious strawberry dessert and a jello salad. That completed my offerings of ham, scalloped potatoes, mixed vegetables, deviled eggs and yeast rolls. Dinner was good, if I do say so myself. Thankful for leftovers, too!
- We asked Granddaughter Lauren to come up for Easter, but she had already invited friends over for an Easter turkey dinner with all the trimmings. She texted me later to say her dinner was yummy and they had German Chocolate Cake for dessert. We missed her, but are happy she is making friends and making her way as an adult!!
- Grandson Tristan and his mom got home from Germany very late yesterday. They emailed us a couple of times while on their trip, and we got text messages when they could. Tristan's German served them well, and Kathy said he gained some confidence with it while they were there. Here is a photo of Tristan in front of Castle Neuschwanstein (which I believe was used as a model for Walt Disney's Cinderella Castle).
- Joe and I attended the Easter Vigil Mass, on Saturday night. It started at 8:00 and was over at around 10:15. It is always a "High Mass" with incense, extra Bible readings, a renewal of our baptismal promises, and we also welcome new members into the Catholic faith. We had eight new members, and six of them were baptized. It is such a lovely Mass, welcoming the new light of the Resurrection. He is Risen!!
- My brother-in-law, Bruce, is adjusting to being home. Tammy is happy with his progress, though the case manager and home health nurses haven't got the schedules down yet, and she feels they are a bit disorganized, but hoping it will work out as they settle into a new routine with him. They had their first outing last week! Tammy said they had lots of fun at Winn Dixie, doing some grocery shopping! She pushed him in the wheelchair and he pushed the shopping cart. She said no one was injured and nothing was knocked down from the shelves! They also finally opened Christmas gifts. His stroke was December 22nd, so Christmas was left under the tree. Tammy said they had fun doing that, too, and Bruce was able to use a screwdriver to put an indoor/outdoor thermometer together. He took the screwdriver, used it correctly and didn't have a hesitation in his work. So blessed!
- I have today off from work!! When a holiday falls on Sunday, we get Monday off. So this is laundry day and I have some other things to catch up on. It feels like a Sunday to me!
I look forward to reading about your weekend! Thanks for coming by here, and for your comments. Wishing you a good Monday, with peace and love!

Your bread turned out great!
ReplyDeleteI think your sister has a wonderful sense of humor. I think that has probably really helped her get through this time.
Enjoy your day off!
ReplyDeleteGetting caught up. I'm glad to hear that Bruce is home, and what a great thing for Tristan to hone his German skills in Germany! Sounds like you had a lovely Easter day and dinner. Hope you have a nice week at work, Terri.
ReplyDeleteYou had so much good news, and so thankful for that. A day off after a holiday is always a plus. Hope you get done what is needed before you go back to work tomorrow. Your family is so diverse and I always enjoy reading about them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shout out. I always enjoy coming here and reading/catching up with you. Blessings
ReplyDeleteHi Terri, We had "Killing Jesus" DVR'd also ---and we watched it last night... We were both VERY impressed. It was SO well-done--and quite different from other films about Jesus. As I had read, it was more historical and not as 'religious'.... We are also DVRing "A.D." to watch sometime..
ReplyDeleteYour special bread sounds great... YUM.... AND I'm glad you were able to spend Easter with friends... Glad also that Bruce is doing well. That's a big job for your sister though... Hope the workers get their act together.
Have a great week.
Hugs,
Betsy
Merry Christmas to your sister and family in April and always. That must have been a sight seeing them doing the shopping. What kind of yeast do you get for your bread? I bet it's (was?) as delicious as it looks. My sister usually makes turkey when I go to her house on holiday. The kids didn't have school today but I worked, so they had class. Hope you've enjoyed your day.
ReplyDeleteThat sweet bread looks so yummy! I bet your house smelled amazing while it baked.
ReplyDeleteI never knew the inspiration for the Disneyland castle was in Germany!
Thanks for another encouraging update about your sister and her husband!! How fun that they could grocery shop together.
What pretty bread! I haven't ever attempted making bread. Your Easter fare sounds scrumptuous to me. I have been wanting deviled eggs and love scalloped potatoes. We visited the castle in Germany several years ago.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad for you about Bruce being home. So sweet about the Christmas gifts.
The bread does look quite nice and yummy. So glad to hear about Bruce, and it was delightful that Tammy had the forethought to keep their Christmas until now. How sweet. We didn't do anything for Easter, not even church. My foot was still too swollen to put shoes on (gout), and I stayed on the couch all day with ice packs....Vicodin is now my drug of choice, just sayin'. Lee went out to the grocery and picked up a ham steak and Bob Evans' ready-to-serve mashed potatoes and fixed them up for us for our meal. Tasted good. Then we watched a Woody Allen movie on Hulu, and finished off the evening watching a few episodes of the Naked Archeologist which we had not seen before. Kinda interesting.
