It's an Earthy Hodgepodge Wednesday!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 218

Happy Hodgepodge Wednesday!  Joyce posts the questions on Tuesdays and the whole wide world answers on Wednesdays.  Join in the fun HERE!

Joyce has declared next week Spring Break in the Hodgepodge. What that means is no Hodgepodge on Wednesday, April 29th. The HP will be back to it's regularly scheduled programming the following week, Wednesday May 6th.  Thanks everyone!

1. Have you ever had to wear a uniform? If yes, tell us more. Did you love it or hate it?  I was in the band, in high school, and we had uniforms.  I LOVED marching band and putting that uniform on. Can you find me?  I played trumpet...fourth down from the top on the right-hand side, end of the row.

2. April 22nd is Earth Day. What is one thing you do personally to be a good steward of planet Earth?  We recycle everything our city lets us recycle, which is a lot!

3. Brown rice, quinoa, or couscous...your healthy grain of choice? How often are one of the three on your menu at home?  Given a choice between white rice, brown rice, wild rice, and fried rice which would you go for?  Brown rice lives in our cupboard and I make it occasionally.  Joe doesn't really like rice, so it's not on the menu often.  I don't really care for quinoa or couscous.  Given the choices, I would go for white rice first, then wild rice.  I love fried rice, but try to stay away from it because of the sodium.  Brown rice is better for you than white, so I use it in soups.

4. In your opinion, who has the best job ever?  I do!  I've been at the Museum 18 years.  I also love being Joe's wife - and yes, being a wife is a job.  Tell me it isn't!

5. What's a situation in your life currently requiring patience?  I struggle with patience every day.  I tend to fail on the impatient side of any situation, and turn into my dad behind a steering wheel.  He was the poster child for impatience!  I struggle.

6.  Do you live your life around days of the week? Explain.  Oh, how I love Fridays!!  I look forward to the weekends more and more, and retirement seems so far away when I think it is two more years.  That job I have loved for 18 years will not be missed.  I'm tired of getting up early and tired of worrying about the wonderful organization I work for.  Non-profits have a tough way to go these days.  Philanthropy is almost dead.

7. In a nod to the A to Z challenge happening around town this month, what 'R word' best describes your April?  Renewal.  Easter and spring flowers.....renewal and Resurrection!

8. Insert your own random thought here.  May is going to be a crazy busy month for us!  We have the Museum's Mayfaire art festival on Mothers' Day weekend, immediately followed by our trip to New Orleans, and a week later we will be going to Naples for Tristan's graduation. Whew!  June will be fairly quiet, I think, (except for a visit to my sister, in GA - maybe for her birthday), then we have our family reunion beach vacation in July.  Good golly!

Another good Hodgepodge and thanks to Joyce for this fun meme!!  (Have a good week off!)

Thanks for being here!  Peace & hugs.

  1. Hi Terri, Wow! You two have a lot of activities coming up. I had to laugh at you saying "poster child for impatience." Thankfully, since I don't work every day, I can limit my time in heavy traffic!

  2. Terri, you have given the best answer I've seen thus far for the question about R and April. Renewal. Resurrection. Have a blessed day!

P.S. If I quint my eyes, I can see you with your trumpet in the band photo!!

    1. I have an old cornet that was given to me (my sister, Patti, played my high school instrument and it was 'trashed' by the time she finished with it - LOL) by a friend, years ago. I can still sort of play our high school fight song, the Star Spangled Banner, taps, and Hang On Sloopy (Lakers!).....just because we played those songs over and over and I said I would never forget them. I no longer play well, though, and would not want anyone to hear me playing. The gut and the lip are gone. Trumpet playing is more gut than lip....diaphragm strength.

  4. I 'm happy that I live in a place that encourages us to recycle. As a matter of fact, Spain is the number 1 country for recycling paper in Europe. As a teacher, I've learned to be patient. In number 3, I'll eat any of those except fried rice. I hope the people who think up these questions know how much they are appreciated. Have a good Wednesday.

  5. Ha! to your answer to #5 Ed behind the wheel of a car is also a poster child for impatience. He suffers a bit from road rage, at times...
You certainly have some busy, but wonderful times ahead. Enjoy :)

  6. I love your R answer! I also liked your great job. I've enjoyed my job of being Bob's wife as well. :)
I'm patient in most situations, but that changes when I get behind the wheel too.

  9. I found you easily, Dear Friend....had a bit of trouble finding myself, though. Always get Patty and me confused in those big old hats. I used to bake bread on Saturdays and watch all the "home" shows on PBS starting several years ago...really looked forward to those Saturdays that I could stay at home and do things I wanted to do. Those days are gone now, since I retired, and now I'm lucky enough to have Saturdays everyday....heck, don't even know or care what day of the week it is most of the time.....you'll see in a couple of years. Enjoy your working time that you have left.....time flies. Hugs
