Random Five Friday....

  • Karen and Lee left yesterday. Last night, we got a call from our friends, Rob & Jenny. They are coming to Lakeland today (from Naples), and wondered if they could take us out tonight, to see a play at Florida Southern College. Their son (Tristan's friend) Brett, has signed up for an open house at Florida Southern, tomorrow morning. He is considering attending FSC, after he graduates next year.  Of course, we offered to have them stay with us.
  • Brett has a friend, from school, who is already attending FSC, and she is part of the play tonight.... not too hard to put 2 and 2 together, if you get my meaning! :)
  • I am back at work today, with two days to catch up on. Not too bad.
  • Feeling a little tired. I know I don't get enough sleep. Seven hours feels good, eight feels even better. I'm lucky to get five hours on week-nights. I just can't get to bed earlier than 10:00, and then I have to read awhile, before going to sleep. I lay there awake, if I don't, so why bother going earlier? My alarm rings at 5:00 a.m.  I'm not complaining. Praise God that I have a job to get up for!! I'm just tired by Friday, and know I'm not sleeping enough.
  • The Sun 'n Fun Fly-In is going on this week and through the weekend. We have the second largest fly-in, in the USA.  There are small planes flying over all day long, and you can't get into the restaurants around town. Lakeland is bursting at the seams with lots of visitors in town. It's a good thing!
Wishing you all a good weekend!! I'm sorry to have missed so many blogs, but I'll stay caught up from today. Thanks for stopping by! Peace, love & hugs.

  1. Wow, Terri, your nights sound just like mine, although I get pretty consistently 6 hours sleep. My body just won't sleep longer. Hope you can get some rest this weekend and feel refreshed Sunday morning. Blessings.♥

  2. I repeat again, I dont know how you do all you do. You need to take 24 hours and just sleep and/or rest. I know also that you enjoy having family and friends visit and I am thankful you can keep up the pace. Have a wonderful weekend dear friend.

  6. I've already been thinking about the bullfighting season. I know it brings lots of business to the bars and restaurants in the area, but is annoying for those of us who don't go to the bullfights. Anyway, I hope you get some much needed rest this weekend.

  8. Sounds like you're going to have another busy weekend. I just saw the picture you put on FB of the jets over-head. I'd love to be there to watch them all. Hope you enjoy the play tonight and visiting with your friends.

  9. I read a book of research about this middle of the night sleeplessnes and short hours of sleep in our societies. It is normal...normal ....normal.... and a means to protect the tribe that is built into our DNA. The research on indigenous groups showed a pattern of ...Teens wait to sleep, elders sleep eary and get up often, mothers attend to children at 4 hour interals, and men snooze when they can....but the objective all over the world is protecting the tribe...so each age group takes over their part of the night.....

  10. I hear you on the not get enough sleep problem. I wake in the middle of the night and try to meditate and pray for a few hours until I doze off again. There you go with a new background again. I changed mine to rain a few weeks ago and now I can't remember how I did it.

  11. That's very interesting, Karyn, about the tribe theory. Maybe. I, too, usually get 7, but feel better with 8. Those nights are fewer and fewer as the years go by, though. I have a Sudoku booklet next to my night stand and work on a puzzle when I wake at night....that seems to work. My neighbor told me she tries to remember all the sur-names she can think of and place them with their origins, like miller, cooper, etc. Think that would keep me up, though :)
