Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 171
1. April 22nd is Earth Day. Are you inspired by nature? In what way? I am always inspired by God's creations and love it when I can actually get out in nature and soak it in. I am partial to mountains, woods, and waterfalls. Here in Florida, we have swamps and lakes and trails through preserves, and some very beautiful beaches. Not quite the same, though, and I rarely have time to get out and enjoy the outdoors. I do find it spiritually renewing, though, to be surrounded by quiet beauty and fresh air. When I walked outside this morning, to retrieve the newspaper from the driveway, the birds were chirping and the air was clear and brisk - I noticed and stood for a moment to just enjoy the sounds. Something that simple is inspiring to me.
2. Down to earth, four corners of the earth, move heaven and earth, not have an earthly chance, or salt of the earth...which earthly idiom have you most recently encountered? Explain. Probably 'down to earth' would explain my life. I'm a down-to-earth kind of girl. I live a pretty simple, normal life. I could also say that I would travel the four corners and move heaven and earth for my salt-of-the-earth husband!! How's that?! LOL
3. Share one piece of advice you might give a newly engaged couple. Talk to each other! Communicate! Don't ever think s/he knows what you are thinking. Also, laugh. Laugh a lot! I guess that's two pieces of advice, but there you have it.
4. When did you last engage someone to perform a job, task, service, home repair, or improvement? On a scale of 1-10 (ten being the best) how would you rate their work and/or your satisfaction with the job or service provided? Just a few weeks ago, we hired a man to re-screen our pool enclosure. He did an outstanding job, so I would give him a 9.5 on that job. He also put gutter screens in for us, which was also excellent! He is coming back for a few more odd jobs. I'm so glad we found a reliable handyman!!
5. When did you last find yourself engaged in small talk? Are you awkward or an expert or somewhere in between? I guess you would call the conversation around the Easter dinner table small talk. I am not an expert at anything, so would probably put myself somewhere in between awkward and expert. If I am in a room full of strangers, I would tend to be more awkward.
6. What was the last historic place you visited? St. Augustine, FL.
7. The world would be a better place if we just learn to accept each others differences and embrace diversity. Just love one another. We're all in it together so why not work together?!
8. Insert your own random thought here. Easter is over already. Now it is on to Mother's Day and the Museum's Mayfaire by-the-Lake art festival. Time is flying! Joe and I will also be celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary, on Mother's Day this year - May 11th. Yes, time is flying.
Check out my cat graphic below! I always type "thanks for stopping by" and "peace, love & hugs" so decided to put it on my page more permanently. Wishing you a good hump day!
Good answers my friend. Give me the mountains, creeks and waterfalls and I am a happy camper. Maybe that is why I like living here...lol Have a good hump day!
ReplyDeleteGood answers - much like what I would have said. I so haven't had time for these lately. :( .
ReplyDeleteI don't see your "peace love and hugs" or the cat graphic you mentioned?
Oh, wait...there it is! Sorry LOL.
DeleteGreat answers. I'm a country girl. I could never live in a big city. I will never understand how can people can live there. Happy Hump Day!
ReplyDeleteHappy Hump Day to you..loved your answers. Blessings
ReplyDeleteYes, LAUGH is such good advice for the newly engaged! People take themselves far too seriously. And I feel the same way about nature that you do, Terri. I love to walk outdoors in the early morning and hear nothing but the sound of birds and an occasional neighborhood rooster and cow.
ReplyDeleteGreat answers. I love #2. What a great couple: 'down-to-earth' meets 'salt-of-the-earth' and have an anniversary coming up!
ReplyDeleteI found your kitty on the computer. That's cute.
Love this week's questions and your answers too! Nature is truly amazing, but I also enjoy looking at man made things too. The world would be a much better place if we shared and cared more about others and our surroundings. Hope you'll be enjoying a good book this evening.
ReplyDeleteCan't imagine surviving married life without a sense of humor : ) I love the different landscapes around America. There is beauty in every part of this country. 29 years-congrats!! We celebrate 30 in June. Time flies when you're having fun!
ReplyDeleteAlways enjoy your hodgepodges....love the graphic...may I steal it?
ReplyDeleteSure. I got it from Photobucket, and put the text in myself. Not really mine when it's on the web. :)
DeleteVery good with the earthly idioms! I'm impressed. :-) I totally agree with your answer to #7. Is the art fair the one put on by where you work? I think that was around the time I started following you.
ReplyDeleteYes, Dawn, it is our art festival - every Mother's Day weekend. This will be our 43rd or 44th (I think)....my 17th.
DeleteYour cat graphic is adorable!
ReplyDeleteI loved visiting St. Augustine! The other night, we watched old home movies of one of our trips there!
ReplyDeleteIt just dawned on me that May is just around the corner! We'll be celebrating Mother's Day, our son's birthday, and our son's wedding anniversary that month!
I agree with you - if you can't communicate - forget any relationship working..
