Sunday Evening...

I'm just quickly checking in on Sunday night. My afternoon/early evening was spent at church, helping with the Silver Tea, that my women's group hosts every year. We invite all the women of the parish to come, and we ask for donations that are given to a specific charity. This year, we voted to give the donations to the food pantry. Unfortunately, we only had about 50 people come, and we collected a little over $900. Still, that is $900 that the food pantry can use!! The fellowship was joyful. I truly love being back in my circle of love at Resurrection. Incredible women and great friends.

Discussion around the table I sat down at for awhile, was to try it in the fall next year. Too much is going on at this time of year, with the Mardi Gras just over, and Lent just beginning. We even talked about doing an Octoberfest and including the men, with a live polka band. Now that sounds like fun to me!!

My laundry is just about done, and it is on to a new week tomorrow. I have fasting labs in the morning, for a doctor appointment next Monday. My doc is not going to be happy with me. I'm not happy with me, actually, so I'll be able to agree with her! LOL

Wishing you a good week!! Thanks for stopping by!! Peace, love & hugs.

  2. $900 is a huge help to the food bank! I think that people are just crazy busy right now. So many things are tugging at them. I think that January is a good time because that is a dead time after Christmas, and people are getting their second wind. I would schedule it for before the 15th. That way people have had enough time after Christmas to start wanting to go to a party. And the snowbirds are down here and might be looking for a nice event. Just a thought.

  3. Glad you had fun - and raised $900! It might not be what you usually make, but I know the food bank will appreciate it.

  6. Good for your group. I find it kind of embarrassing that in this day and age we still have food banks. But we have them here too. Something is wrong with the system.
