I am away from computers today, so will have to play catch-up again, but wanted to share a couple more photos that I've been saving. The one of my very tired, worn out grandmother that I posted yesterday is not how she usually looked.
My pawpaw is holding me, and that's Granny holding her hat. We were on vacation at Rock City, in Tennessee. I am guessing it is summer 1954, when I was not quite three years old. My mom told me that she was so scared Pawpaw was going to drop me over one of the cliffs. She kept saying "Don't drop her!" And yes, I am sucking my thumb. I did until I was almost nine years old.
This is at Granny & Pawpaw's 50th Wedding Anniversary, in 1966.
They were married 11/09/1916. The photo was obviously printed at a later date. (Remember having to wait until you finished a roll before developing it?)
Also at the 50th Anniversary celebration, with their three kids.
My Uncle Bill, then Pawpaw, Granny, my dad, and Aunt Phyllis.
Notice yet another date on this color photo! LOL Can't always believe what you see!
That's three things... I need two more to make my Friday Five.
We have no plans for tomorrow! That sounds very good!! No alarm clock.
Sunday, my church women's group is having the annual Silver Tea. It is an event to raise money for a charity or program. This year, we voted to give the money to our church's food pantry. We usually raise $2,000 or so. The women of the church are invited to stop in for "tea" and leave a donation. I volunteered to work the last hour (4:00-5:00) and then stay to help clean up. It will be fun, and I am happy we are supporting the food pantry this year.
That makes my five!! Wishing you a good Friday! I'll post about the Leadership Forum tomorrow. I am happy you stopped by! Peace, love & hugs!

ReplyDeletePS: For anyone following Linda Eller at "Me And Mine" she has moved to: http://lindaeller3.blogspot.com/
I love the picture of you with them. Such sweet memories!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the pictures. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteRock City is still great! We haven't been in at least ten years but it's always fun when we do go. My guess the next time will be with the grandson - - - - - and many, many, many years later, he will have a picture of us holding him!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures and good memories... love it. Thanks for sharing your family with us. I remember having to hold a roll of film in the camera until it was completely finished. That's why the dates on the side, when they were processed, can be a year older. I pretty sure I have several of my mother's photos like that. You have a good weekend.
ReplyDeletePS. it looks like you connected with Linda again after having to create a new blog. I was going to pass on her address in case you hadn't. It's aggravating what she's had to go through with Blogger.
Oh my sister sucked her thumb way into the late years too...I remember some nights the 'sound' would awaken me!! The memories.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet pair of photo shares and such memories. Lovin' it
Thanks for aharing your photos and memories. Ilove seeing old photos and hearing about the memories involved with them.
ReplyDeleteI am so enjoying these pictures, Terri! They are great.
