Hodgepodge Wednesday....

I posted two blogs last night, and now have the Wednesday Hodgepodge ready to go!  If you would like to join in on the weekly fun, visit Joyce's page here: http://www.fromthissideofthepond.com/

1. What lesson has failure taught you?  To communicate better.

2. What decision are you glad you made?  I’ve made lots of decisions I am happy about! To marry Joe, to accept the job offer to work at the Museum, to join Blogger when Multiply closed….

3. I've been a little bit surprised to see fully lit and decorated Christmas trees popping up for the past several weeks in friend's Instagram feeds. So tell the truth-is your tree up and decorated, and if so when did that happen? If not, when will you be decking the halls?  Our tree goes up the weekend AFTER Thanksgiving. Since we don’t have family for Christmas anymore, each year I find myself putting out less and less of our decorations. It’s too much work to take it all down!!  Our neighbors across the street have their tree up and lighted in their front window.
4. Solitaire-Poker-Rummy-Hearts-Go Fish-Old Maid...which game of cards would you most like to join? I am not a game player, so I could really care less about any game.  I do play solitaire on the computer now and then, and I used to be a good Euchre player, but no one down here in Florida has ever heard of Euchre. I don’t play to win; I play to have fun, so no one wants me for a partner because I don’t really care. It’s being with family/friends and the conversation that I enjoy, and if we have to play a game then I’m in, but not necessarily to win. LOL

5. This question comes to you courtesy of a Facebook friend, who once upon a time had a blog...When you're feeling stressed do you snack a lot or are you more the 'can't eat' type?  I’ve talked about worry and stress in blogs before. I work to not be stressed or worry. I just like to eat, period. I’ve never noticed that my snacking increases or decreases because of my mood.
6.  Have you ever reviewed a product or service on line? Was your review favorable or less than favorable? I shop on line all the time and frequently get one of those surveys or requests to rate the product I purchased – I don’t do it, mainly because they want my name and email to go with the review. I know my information is out there, but I don’t have to add to it in a review.

7. What was the best conversation you had yesterday?  The BEST was Joe and I telling each other about our day, at dinner. The most interesting was at lunch yesterday, after the garden tour I went on. See my blog for more info about the tour. It was fun to talk with new acquaintances.

8.  Insert your own random thought here. This year has gone much too fast.

  1. I too find myself putting out less and less holiday decorations. My Christmas tree is going to be on my front porch this year. I had a tiny little fake one last year, and the kids have worried me to death to get a 'real' tree....so I told them, they could put one on the porch and if it shed, I could use the blower to clean up. Also, I am not a game player either...we are again so much alike...hehe

  3. I hate decorating for any holiday. I guess I am lazy, My hubby and son love decorating for Christmas so they do that. They call me Scrooge. lol They usually put the tree up after Thanksgiving and it comes down on New Years.

  4. Well you and I cannot be partners in a card game : ) Ha! I'm a little bit competitive. I am having my whole family here for Christmas this year. 8 for Christmas Eve, 13 for Christmas Day, and 13 for the day after which is my sister's birthday. They all stay here too, so there is a lot to get done between now and then. Instead I blog : )

  5. Good answer for #1. So many disagreements boil down to a problem with communication. I like to decorate after Thanksgiving too :)

  6. That's funny.... I didn't know Euchre was a territorial game. I think everyone in this part of Ohio plays euchre. My hubby learned the game before he knew how to play solitaire. And the senior center has a daily game going all week long.
I like your answer to #6. I feel the same way. I usually don't give them a review either because I've even had some of those Q&A's ask for my income, own or rent, etc. etc. That's none of their business.

  7. I won't put my tree up until the week before Christmas but may put a few decorations out. I leave my tree up until after 6th of January when our Christmas is officially finished.

I'm not a game player either, but do like to play go fish with kids and I also like Trivial Purauit if people still play it.

  8. I never decorate until the Friday after Thanksgiving or later. These retailers have ruined the holiday for me because of pushing holidays into lasting longer. All the holidays have gotten boring because of it.

I enjoyed the answers. Hope y'all are having a great week! ~:)

  9. I like your answers.
I think in failure I learned strength.
I am glad I married Rick.
    And I play Solitaire!
    Have a good one!

  10. I agree, this year has flown by! If it wasn't for my kids, I wouldn't do much decorating either. I hate putting all the decorations away. But the kids enjoy it and when it's up it looks nice and I feel more festive.
