Seizing Saturday....

LOL - and that is exactly how I feel this morning. Still in my PJs, but at least I've been up a couple of hours and am on my second cup of coffee!!

I do need to get moving.  Made a nice breakfast for us this morning, and Joe is already out and about.  He is helping Helen clean out old files that Al kept (actually, that is done - Al was also a CPA) and we have a bunch of old files that we have had in the attic, plus Joe had old client files stored in a CPA buddy's storage area (from when Joe closed his office and moved the CPA business home).  A shredding company is coming to Helen's house on Tuesday, and all that paper is going away - finally!! We are splitting the cost with her, and what needs to be destroyed is pretty equal, so it is working out just fine.  He is taking a few more boxes over there this morning.

Those shredding trucks are amazing. We have one come to the Museum every two or three years, too.  I have to mark all of the records I store with a 'destroy date' clearly written on the end of the boxes.  We follow a very legal records destruction policy. The shredding truck is amazing...it destroys an entire box in seconds, along with staples, clips, and even binders. Wouldn't want to get my hand stuck in there, that's for sure!

A couple of people wanted to know about my friend/barber's husband's toe.  He was in the yard, wearing his Crocs, and stepped on a nail that went into his toe.  They pulled the nail out and cleaned the wound good.  He was current on his tetanus shot, so they weren't concerned until the next day, when his leg was red and he had a fever.  That is what put him in the hospital for six days.  Nasty stuff, those bad infections.

We will go to our usual Vigil Mass tonight, and need to remember to pick up a parish registration form, so we can move our registration from St. John Neumann, back to Resurrection.

We have gift cards from Red Lobster, plus a coupon for buy one get one half price.  It is up in the north end of town, about nine or ten miles away from us, here on the south side of town.  We decided to use one of them tonight, though. Silly to carry them around and not use them. It's just a little ride...

I might get a few things done around the house. There is tons to do, if I would just get to it. Closets to clean out, kitchen cupboards that need attention again (how do they get so unorganized so fast?)... makes me tired just thinking about it.  Motivation is sadly lacking right now.

Peace, love & hugs to you all!! Thanks for stopping by.

  2. The shredding truck sounds wonderful. Wish we had one around here. I have one over my trash can and can shred a little at a time. Jim has an office full that needs it, but I am not motivated right now...lol Enjoy your evening at church and out to eat.

  3. Hope you have a lovely dinner. That is scary about your friend's husband. My John has diabetic neuropathy and we have to be so careful.
Glad you had a leisurely Sat. a.m. I know it is a relief to have time away from work.
Sweet memory you shared about the lilac bush from your childhood. Lilacs were my mom's fav, too.

  4. We have a shredding truck come to our nursing home too. It does work well!
Hope you had a nice day. My hubby and friends put new shingles on his workshop/barn. We started with rain, but it passed quickly and they were able to get it done! Now they've all taken some Motrin and are recuperating. :)

  5. That poor man.... walked around all that time and not know it. Ouch. I'm glad he's going to be ok.
I can only imagine the old files that have been in storage. Quite a job.
We don't have any shredding trucks around here, not that I know of.
Hope you had a good day. It'a always nice to have a leisurely morning, without the stress of beating the clock. ♥

  6. Our bank has a shredding day once a year for customers to take advantage of. I used to work in an office where the maintenance man was in charge of shredding the shreddables.

I seized this Saturday, and so did Jasmine. She went to bed at 7pm! I called out a question so she came out and said she was going to do a couple of things before really going to bed ... and then she went right back to bed. Poor thing! It was a long work week and a busy day of birthday fun, and she ran out of steam!

  8. A shredding truck would be just the ticket for my husband's shop...either that, or a match! ;)

  9. I never wear my Crocs outside, but I always thought they had a fairly thick sole. I guess a leather sole would give more protection i don't know if that would be sufficient against a nasty nail though.

  11. Wow that isn't very comforting knowing that you can still get a severe infection even when you are up to date on with a tetanus shot! I hope he is doing much better now!
