We arrived home safely, after a wonderful four days spent with the D'Orsaneo side of our family, celebrating the wedding of our nephew, Julian, to his new bride, Rachel. It was a joyful time, filled with love and lots of laughter.
This morning, we received a call that our nephew, Larry, died yesterday afternoon. He was only 57, in good health (runner, no medicine - excellent shape). He had a heart attack. His wife and youngest daughter found him.
Larry, Gina, Linda (our D'Orsaneo niece), Alaina, and Nick (this was in 2009)
They were not able to be at the wedding, so we missed seeing them. Only their oldest son attended the festivities. He lives in Connecticut now, out on his own. We are happy that he was still down with family when the news came. I'm having trouble processing it all, and just don't feel right about posting fun wedding pictures today.
Catching up on laundry, and am happy to have this extra day before going back to work. Happy for Julian and Rachel, who are off to Italy on their honeymoon today. Very sad for our niece, Linda, and the kids. Gina is the niece who attends SCAD (who we saw on our road trip through Savannah). Alaina is still in high school. Please pray for this family that they will find peace after grieving. They are believers, and the kids all attended Catholic school. Faith will make a difference, I'm sure.
We sure don't know when we will be called home. Don't forget to tell those you love how much they mean to you!!! I'll get back to the wedding and post photos later this week.
Here are the bride a groom. Our nephew is in the Marine Corp.
Peace, love & hugs. Thanks for checking in!!

You are right, no one knows the hour or day when they will be called home. So sad after such a happy time at the wedding. Will pray for this family. Hope you get everything caught up today and can begin the new week feeling accomplished.
ReplyDeleteDo you know a gal named Lois - she pasted the same picture and the bride was niece. Or I am going crazy.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about the loss of your nephew and no warning. This is the 3rd case I have heard of in 3 weeks.
You never know.
Hugs and prayers to you.
Sandie
Sandy, I don't know a Lois who was at the wedding, though I didn't meet all of Rachel's family. I took the picture I posted, but I'm sure there are many just like it.
DeleteI'm so sorry about your nephew. We had someone in our town pass the same way this past week. Praying for your family!
ReplyDeleteGlad to know you're safely home and that you had fun at the wedding.
ReplyDeleteBut sorry for the loss of your nephew. That's so sad. I'll say a prayer for his family.
Hope you have a good week ahead. ♥

ReplyDeleteThe newlyweds are a beautiful couple!!! And obviously extremely happy.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry this event was bookend-ed with the death. That is too young. His family will miss him so much. I will pray for them tonight.
