"Hope Floats"

One of last week's Hodgepodge questions was about movies that make you cry.  Most everyone agreed that "The Notebook" was one of those.  I mentioned "When A Man Loves A Woman", but started watching "Hope Floats" this afternoon, and have already cried twice. I've seen it at least a half dozen times, and know there are at least two more tissue times coming up.  Have you seen "Hope Floats" with Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick, Jr.?  Speaking of Harry....oh my gosh.

Joe has had a busy Sunday.  He had to drive down to Ft. Meade, FL, this morning, to one of his clients. They own a ranch down that way, with cows, goats, horses, dogs... it is an adventure just getting to the house, which is almost three miles from the road, through fields.  They sent him home with two dozen eggs from their chickens - just gathered!!

When he got home from there, another client came by with some work for him.  Then, he went over to Helen's house to work on getting rid of some more of Al's things, from the office and shed.  Joe wanted to have a garage sale, so she could get some money for whatever would sell, but she really just wants to get the stuff out of the house and garage. She is donating to Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity.  Two very good organizations.

I got some cleaning done, and am almost done with the laundry.  Watching the movie, and little else this afternoon.  I made some home-made ice cream, from Linda's recipe (Ice cream freezer, 1 pint of heavy cream, 1 can of condensed milk, and enough chocolate milk to fill the freezer.)  It looks like a Wendy's Frosty, and I hope it tastes that good, too! It is in the freezer and we'll try it later tonight.

Hope you have had a good weekend, and I wish you all a good week ahead!  Peace, love, hugs & prayers!

  1. I have to ask - I think I just saw Hope Floats once - and it turned out good - why does it make you cry? Just asking. sandie

    1. The little girl, Bernice, is a heart breaker. Yes, it has a happy ending, but it takes some tears to get there.

  2. I've never seen 'Hope Floats.' But I do like Sandra Bullock. The first movie that made me cry, and there are only a handful I can think of, was 'Rose White,' which I think was a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie. I also cried in 'You've Got Mail,' at the end when Barkley joins in a group hug. I think it was the dog that did it.:-)

Sounds like a busy day. I understand her wanting to just get rid of stuff rather than going through the trouble of a garage sale.

Hope your ice cream is as good as a Frosty! They're delicious. :-)

    1. The ice cream is good, but probably not as good as a Frosty. We like it, though! I agree with you about 'You've Got Mail'...I shed some tears at the end, too. I've never seen 'Rose White' - have to look for it.

  3. I have an easy recipe pinned on pinterest for vanilla ice cream but have yet to try it. Let us know how yours turns out. I had a vanilla frosty last week. I'd always had the chocolate ones until once we stopped at a Wendy's that was outof the chocolate ones.

    1. I have to have chocolate. Probably would not have ordered a vanilla.

  4. I love that movie "Hope Floats" too. I've watched it a few times and know what you mean. I saw where it was going to be on earlier this afternoon but I didn't watch it this time.... not enough Kleenex. :)
Mmmmm .... fresh eggs straight from the chickens. So good.
I wrote down Linda's ice cream recipe and I hope to make it this week too. It sounded like a Wendy's Frosty and was hoping that was it. I love those but I limit myself on how often I run out to get one. I'm only a few blocks away and thought if I walked out to get one and walked home, it would negate the calories. Sound about right? ♥

    1. Carol, I'm sure if you walk to and from Wendy's, that Frosty would equal out to 0 calories. Wish I had one close enough to walk to.... ;)

  5. A pound cake sure would be good made with fresh eggs!
I very seldom watch movies. Too antsy, I guess!

  9. I watched that just last week. That little girl Bernice was so precious and when her Daddy drove off and left her, it was heartbreaking. Mean Daddy.
