Happy Birthday to Joe!
Today is my dear husband's birthday!
We celebrated last night, with dinner out at Bonefish Grill, which seems to be our go-to for special occasions. They give you a free dessert for your birthday, so he had a luscious creme brulee (shared it with me!). I gave him his card and gifts last night, a day early, because he has his monthly FICPA meeting tonight. He will leave at 4:00 and won't be home until around 8:30. It is dinner, and two hours of CPE, as well as social time to network with other local CPAs. He enjoys the meetings, and gets to go free tonight. Not because it's his birthday, but because he is a past president, and they get to attend the first meeting of the Fall (June, July & August off), for free. Nice, and is $45 we don't have to spend!
Before I left for work this morning, I hung up the Happy Birthday banner that we use and reuse for any birthday celebration, and got his coffee ready to go - he just has to press the button. He did wake up long enough for me to tell him happy birthday and give him a kiss, but was back in la-la land when I went out the door.
I will pick up our friend, Helen, after work tonight. We are going to dinner together, since Joe is out. When Al was still living, Joe and Al went to the meetings together, and Helen and I would have a girls' night out. We will continue the tradition, starting tonight, though all we do is have dinner....no drinking or making trouble anywhere (ha ha)! Helen is 85, by the way!
Co-workers are arriving and it is time to get busy here! I wish you all a good day! Thanks for stopping by! Peace, love & hugs.

I love your traditions; those type things mean a lot. Enjoy your dinner with Helen and I know Joe will enjoy his. Bonefish...mmmmm
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Joe. The dinner last night sounds delicious. I've always wanted to try a creme brulee.
ReplyDeleteHope you and Helen have a good time this evening. It's so sweet of you to take her out to eat like that. I'm sure she loves it.
You have a great day. ♥
Happy birthday to your hubby! It's my sisters birthday today too. Sounds like you had a nice night.
ReplyDeletePS - about the recipe I posted today... The rice is in the mix that gets simmered for 10-15 minutes so it is pretty well cooked before it goes into the oven.
Mari, that was my assumption, but thought I should ask! Thanks!
DeleteWhat a neat birthday tradition you have! We have a Happy Birthday cake topper that we have used on every birthday cake for the last 20 years. It's not the prettiest thing but it's not a birthday cake without it :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat traditions! Happy birthday to Joe and who said there's no such thing as a free (dinner) lunch!!??
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your evening out with your friend Helen.
We use the same birthday decorations every year too. Enjoy your girls night out!
ReplyDeleteHope you and Helen had a good night out. You and Joe can celebrate his birthday again on Friday evening (today).
