Constitution Day....
Tomorrow, September 17, is Constitution Day. I think most of us know the following preamble. I had to learn it in history class. Did you?
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

I don't have much to report on today. It's a typical Monday at work. I have to hurry home to warm up left over soup for our dinner tonight, because my meeting at church starts at 6:30.
'Dancing With The Stars' premiers the new season tonight. The format has changed to one night a week, which makes me happy. Last season, I usually only watched the results on Tuesday. Two nights/three hours was too much. Now it can be recorded on one night, and I can catch it sometime before the next Monday. I will not be quite as fanatical about it this year. I'm kind of getting over it.
I did decide on the dress I would wear to our nephew's wedding this week. It is an afternoon wedding, so it won't be real formal or super-dressy. It is an older dress that I've had for awhile. I must say, I rarely wear a dress these days. I really think this one is at least eight years old (maybe 10!), and maybe I've worn it three times. It still fits and Joe likes it. I'll be wearing slacks to the rehearsal dinner (which we were generously invited to), since we were told it would be casual. Now, to figure out what I'll need for the other days and keep the suitcase under 50 pounds! No extra shoes or outfits, etc. We used to fly a lot more frequently, but I hate the lines and the security and the crowded airplanes now. I remember having a whole row of seats to ourselves, with plenty of storage for carry-on bags. Now, everything is limited, the planes are packed, and liquids have to be in plastic see-through bags, in small bottles. Such a pain, but necessary, I guess - unfortunately.
I will most likely be missing from here while we are gone. I am not taking my laptop, but will have my phone and my Nexus7 (which has all my books on it), so I can check in on Facebook now and then. I'll have stories and photos to share when we get back. Of course our house and our pets will be well cared for.

Yes, I did have to memorize that and still remember most of it. Glad you decided on the dress and sounds as if you have the other days covered too. When will you be back home? Will miss you, but hope you enjoy the wedding, etc.

DeleteWe had to memorize the Preamble in school too and I can still recite it. I just read a thing on FB posted with a picture of the Amendments to the Constitution in a child's text book, showing how they've changed the wording. It's awful.
ReplyDeleteI haven't flown in a long time and remember the security rules then. It's all changed now. Wonder if you still have to remove your shoes.

DeleteYou expressed all my sentiments exactly. It is a pain packing for a flight. But I still will take it over driving a long distance.
