1. The first week of August is National Simplify Your Life Week...what's one thing you could do this week to qualify as a participant? I would have to tackle one of the over-flowing closets, but that isn’t happening this week. Maybe there will be another National Simplify Your Life Week in October!!
2. It's also National Peach Month...peach pie, peach cobbler, or please pour me a Bellini? What's your peach pleasure? I like peaches, but I’m not much into cobblers or fruit pies. As for cocktails,…not into those either. I don’t care for sweet drinks. Just give me a juicy peach to bite into and let the juice run down my chin!
3. Eleanor Roosevelt once wrote, "Do one thing every day that scares you." Agree or disagree...explain. I refuse to bungee jump, jump out of a plane, etc., etc. I guess I’m too sensible to try things that would scare me or possibly lead to bodily harm, which leans me toward disagreeing with Miss Eleanor. Not too many things scare me – but jumping from bridges or out of a plane ---not on my to-do list, on any day!
4. What's your favorite household chore? Yes-you have to name one. Let’s call it my least hated household chore….vacuuming, I guess. Chuckle. I used to have a cleaning service, and miss that!!
5. Fodors recently listed (what they've dubbed) the ten most beautiful sunset spots in America. Click here to read more and see the pretty pictures, but this is their list:
Butterfly Beach in Santa Monica CA, Mount Haleakala in Maui HI, Old Fort Marcy Park in Santa Fe NM, Laguna Beach CA, Hopi Point in Grand Canyon AZ, Four Seasons in Miami FL, Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica CA, Gay Head in Martha's Vineyard MA, Ensign Peak in Salt Lake City UT, and Mallory Square in Key West Florida.
Have you seen the sun set from any of these spots? If you could choose to watch the sun set this weekend from one spot on the Fodors List, which would you choose? Where was the prettiest sunset you've ever seen? I HAVE seen the sunset in Key West, Florida, but I can’t say that it is any prettier than any sunset on the Gulf of Mexico and I have seen lots of those since we live only an hour away and enjoy the beach a few times a year. The sun appears to just settle into the water, and it can be breath-taking. I find it interesting that Miami Beach is listed for a sunset….I can see a SUNRISE there, but when the sun sets in the west, that would seem to put Miami Beach out of contention, I would think. Oh well. Any sunset on the Gulf of Mexico is beautiful.
6. What's your favorite or most used app? If you don't use apps how about your favorite or most visited website? I have lots of apps on my Android phone and Nexus7, but the one that has me hooked right now is a game called Flow Free. It is easy at the beginning, but gets progressively more difficult. I try to solve at least one puzzle every day, now that I am into the 9 x 9 puzzles. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bigduckgames.flow&hl=en
7. We've recently passed the halfway mark for 2013...write a seven word sentence that sums up your year thus far. This year, so far, has been interesting.
8. Insert your own random thought here. I am disgusted with myself for not simplifying my life by getting rid of clutter, and choosing instead to watch too much TV. Sighing. It’s too hot!! LOL

I love your Wednesday blogs...
ReplyDeleteLanie!! I love seeing you on Blogger, my friend! I've missed you. I don't get a link to your blogs anymore...which site are you using now?
DeleteI havent joined the Hodge Podge Wed. yet, but enjoy reading your answers every week. Hope your Wed. is a good one. Clutter will always be around, so forget it and enjoy tv when something is on that you want to see. I do that seems like every day...hehehe
ReplyDeleteThanks for enabling my TV addition, Linda! I agree with you completely!! :)
DeleteI watch way too much tv too. Clear out clutter when the weather gets cooler.
ReplyDeleteExactly!! :)
DeleteClutter - the bane of my existence. :-(( We'll soon be moving and then my years of putting it off will come back to bite hard!
ReplyDeleteNo jumping out of planes for me either, and I also like a peach just plain. Maybe I'll got to the farmer's market tomorrow!
Have a great day, Terri. :-)
Moving? Oh my. After 24 years in the same house, I can't even imagine where I would start with the packing. I never lived in one home for more than 8 years, ever, until Lakeland. Moving was just something that had to be done. Now it just makes me shiver to think about it.
DeleteI haven't got quite as much done as maybe I should this summer and I can't use the TV as an excuse. I have been slowly but surely getting rid of old documents by shredding them. Today and tomorrow I won't be able to use the excuse that it is too hot though, because we're being given a slight reprieve. We'll be sentenced to spend time sweating it out again beginning on Friday.. Anyway, Terri, I'd have copied your answer more or less for the first one and perhaps another one or two.
ReplyDeleteI love peach ice-cream because it always reminds me of my mother. It was her favourite. Sunsets and sunrises can be beautiful anywhere. Our friend Lanie is good at capturing them in photos.I don't mind washing windows, believe it or not. I just think it's a bit of a waste if it's going to rain on them and get them dirty immediately.
Good answers as always. Hope you're having a brilliant day.
Oh Brenda. If I told you how long it's been since I washed windows, you would quit being my friend! It's that bad! My idea of clean windows is to just close the blinds and curtains and ignore them! Especially in the summer, with all the rain we get.
DeleteA fun read, Terri and I wish you could taste our just picked peaches from GA! The juice drips off your elbows!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your train memories with me, too.
My sister lives in Georgia, and we always buy peaches if we are there during "the season"!!
DeleteI know what you mean about having to change your answers. My mood can show in my answers too. ** That is funny, now that you mention it, about the "sunset at Miami Beach". :) I spent some time on Galveston Island, TX a few years ago and saw some beautiful sunrises over the Gulf. ** I play Flow Free too. It gets very difficult. ** I want to tell you right now, my friend, please DON'T jump out of a plane or off a bridge!!!! It scares me just thinking about it. ♥
ReplyDeleteFlow Free is fun! Don't worry - I won't be jumping from any bridges or out of any plane.
Deletehaven't heard of that game...I love my droid...
ReplyDeleteIt is a silly game, but gets progressively more difficult. I love my droid, too!
DeleteSorry if the HP was stressful today...I enjoyed reading your answers if that makes you feel any better : ) I'll have to check out the game. Not that I need any new game addictions! Have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't stressful - I was just "in a mood" for the first go-round. Defensive about de-cluttering, perhaps? No worries!!
DeleteI LOVE an apple pie but it is the only fruit I like cooked and the only pie I generally eat - - - but will make two exceptions - - Key Lime or Lemon Icebox - - neither of which is healthy but they are tasty. Decluttering takes a LONG time. I told my husband after my two months "off" this summer, "I know you can't see the difference. Maybe I should be taking pictures of how much I am hauling out of the house each week!" It's crazy how much we keep but can justify it at the time. Don't feel too badly about being in front of the computer and TV. When I was super busy at work (like during the summer reading program), after running errands afterwards in the heat, I couldn't get up once I sat down in the den either. You just finished a big audit, have been busy socially, and medically. Rest is required!!!
ReplyDeleteDecluttering is a huge job, and I just know that as soon as I toss something or put it in a garage sale, I'm going to need it. Not quite a hoarder...but I probably could get there! LOL
DeleteNow why did you go and mention that app? You know I'm gonna have to try it out. LOL Do you know that the Gulf Of Mexico is one place I'd love to visit- regardless of which state's coast I have to visit to see it. I just think it is one of the prettiest!
ReplyDeleteGood post!
ReplyDeleteWhen Ms Roosevelt was alive there was no bungee jumping, women didn't jump out of planes, and a whole slew of other things we do these's days. She had maids, and drivers. So, I suspect her idea of fear may have been a bit understated. We are doing things now that women never did before... that is scary enough.
Sorry I am late, but I am here. You don't love peaches of all sorts? lol And Terri don't be hard on yourself for taking it easy and enjoying life!
