For years and years (seriously), I have been interested in Story Tellers. I LOVE to hear a good story told with animation and emotion. I want to be a story teller!!
But - I am a very uncomfortable public speaker. Sweaty hands, shaky voice, weak knees....what makes me think I could be a story teller?!!
Maybe that's why I enjoy blogging.... I 'sort of' tell a story most every day. I admire authors. I am a voracious reader (for entertainment) and sometimes think how awesome it would be to write a story. But - if I just got into a group of story tellers, memorized a really entertaining story I could get lost in telling.....
What started me thinking about this (again) was a newsletter I got in my email today. Here is the link: http://www.dailygood.org/view.
I'm 61 years old. I really don't think I'll ever get around to doing this, but I can keep thinking about it, anyway.
Are any of you story tellers? I know a few of my blogging friends are real authors - but do any of you practice the art of story telling? I'd love to hear about it. Encourage me!!
I'm so glad it's Friday!! We are going to try a new restaurant for our evening Lenten fish dinner. We are going to a place called Brits (English Fish & Chips), and they open on Fridays during Lent, for a fish fry. Other times, they are only open for breakfast and lunch. A friend told us it is really good, so we'll go see. I hope it is better than the Knights of Columbus dinner, which was a bit lacking last week (though good the week before).
Wishing you a good Saturday!! Peace, love & hugs.

Knowing you as I do, you would be a great story teller. Let us know if you go further with it. Hoping your dinner is good tonight...we had late lunch and am hoping now I don't have to cook...heheh...Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI could totally see you being a wonderful story teller! I love telling stories but I don't think I am very good at it..haha. When my dad passed away, I couldn't tell you how many people told me how much they enjoyed listening to his stories. You should really do this Terri! We had a wonderful dinner at a place called Vivios. I had a shrimp angel hair pasta in an Alfredo sauce..yum! Hope you enjoyed your fish tonight! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to be going to Brits for fish! Sounds wonderful...not exactly like a sacrifice for Lent. lol
ReplyDelete(just teasing). ANYway, I am a horrible story teller. I am too left-brained to be good at it. My husband, on the other hand, is a wonderful story teller. Give me the facts, Ma'am, just the facts - and he will weave it into something nearly unrecognizable - but lots of fun! Good luck with the story telling, Terri!
I glanced over the newsletter, I didn't have the time right now to read it all, but it certainly looks very interesting. I am not a storyteller at all! At the library I often have to host a group of school kids. They will have a one hour program at the library in which I read a story to them and depending on their age they will read themselves or do some assignments. I have a guideline about what the program is like and I need that guideline to help me along, I am not good at improvising. That is also the reason I am very anxious beforehand with every visit, because one never knows how kids will react.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a lovely fish meal. Enjoy the weekend!
I love reading stories aloud and always have ever since I learnt to read. Like you, I admire people who are good at storytelling without a book. I only tell very short stories, and sometimes jokes, in my classes to explain a grammar point.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I visit my family in Ohio, we go to the Cock and Bull. I don't know if you remember seeing some of my photos of Glendale on multiply. I like English pub food and this one has good food. Hope your meal was good.
You still have a lot of time you could write stories. I would love to read stories that you write. Hope your dinner was good and you enjoyed it a lot. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteNope I am not a storyteller either. I am very quiet + shy and could never talk in front of a group of people. I do love stories though. I love to read and watch movies.
ReplyDeleteI say give it a try, you'll never know what you can do.
ReplyDeleteI have had compliments on my blog, like you, that's my way of story telling, or writing as the case may be. I've also had compliments on a romance story I'm dabbling with (hmmm, need to get back at that). Writing, I seem to be able to manage, but telling a story out loud, make up as you go, not written down sort of thing...NO.
I don't think I'm a story teller either, but I do make humerous comments and make people laugh, once I get to know them. I'm an introvert, always have been.
