It's Thursday Already!!

Gotta love a short week, but next week will seem like two weeks, I'm sure.

I spoke with Joe earlier, and he is feeling a bit better, thank goodness.  He had a fever and was miserable last night.  This cold has really kicked his butt.  I am still doing my best to avoid getting it.  Fingers crossed!

It's a slow, catch-up kind of day today, at work.  I'm getting things done, which feels good.  We have rain today, but it is 75 degrees.  The fog was really thick this morning, and I had to use the wipers a few times on my way to work, just for the moisture from the fog.

We (at the Museum) had one of those 'pat-ourselves-on-the-back' moments today!!  Our next two exhibits made national news!!  Very exciting!  Here is the link, in case you would like to see the article:

An acquaintance, Veronica, contacted me today.  She is a good friend to my friend, Heather, and I really have Heather to blame for the acquaintance (winking).  Veronica is the woman in the next town over, who takes care of a feral cat community, and she is the one who rescued our Lilly and talked us into taking her.  NOW, she has a 5-year old male cat, residing in a rescue facility because his owner died.  He is declawed (which we don't do to ours), micro-chipped, neutered, and in good health, but very sad to be in a cage, all alone.  She saw him and decided he needs to live with us.  We have had five cats at a time before, but it does get expensive to keep them and make sure they have proper medical attention.  If it were up to me, I would be one of those crazy cat ladies with 26 cats (and probably a few dogs, too).  I sent Joe Veronica's e-mail request.  I know he will be the voice of reason, but I would be driving over there tonight, if it was left up to me!  LOL  It takes a lot of time and work to keep a clean house and to enjoy people telling us they can't smell the litter box.  I work daily to keep the house smelling clean and looking clean (though there is always cat hair somewhere).  I just love cats and they are much easier to keep than dogs (though I love dogs, too).

I need to get back to work!  Not much else to say today, anyway!  Thanks for reading my blog!!  Peace, love & hugs.

  1. I actually blogged today - here and yuku (same blog).

I know what you mean - I love our cats and 2 dogs and our foster cats.

  2. Sounds to me like you want that poor pussy cat. He just needs some love! I could be a crazy dog lady if I had the funds.

    1. Yes, Jilly, I would take him, but Joe is right (see reply to Maggie, below). We just can't do it.

  3. I'm happy to hear Joe is feeling a little better. Saying prayers that he continues to get better and that you don't catch it! I'm an animal lover and I totally understand your desire to want to take this kitty in! Let us know what Joe thinks about it:-)

  4. "She saw him and decided he needs to live with us." That made me lol! I could easily be a crazy cat lady too! Any time I see one posted by a friend on Facebook or in a cage at the vet, my heart quickens and I have to give myself a stern talking to. I am fortunate in having a cat door to the garage and from the garage to the pen out back, so my cats keep their odors to the garage litterbox and to the backyard, and my house smells clean.

    1. We have a pet door that goes out to the pool area, which is all screened in, but it's too humid here to put the litter box outside, and we don't let them out at night. The HUGE litter box is in our laundry room. I clean it everyday, and we have never had a problem with smells or accidents elsewhere.

  5. I think with a good cat litter, having twice as many litter boxes as cats, and scooping them at least once a day is the key to keeping the odor away. I know cats (and dogs) are expensive, but you're right that cats are easier. And you might be blessed with a kitty who likes to snuggle! Enjoy your new kitty. I'm assuming that the 'voice of reason' will cave and let you get the kitty. LOL At least, that's what I'm hoping. :-)

    1. Judy, we use a good cat litter, for multiple cats and it works well. We have one very large litter box in the laundry room and it has worked well for us, for 23 years. I clean it, always once a day, sometimes twice. We've never had a problem with odors or accidents elsewhere.

We said no to the new cat. I explained Joe's voice of reason below, for Maggie.

  6. Sure good to hear that Joe is better and I hope very soon he will be all well. Nice exhibit and congratulations to you all for making the news. It is hard for me to turn down any critter but being on a fixed income we can only take care of so many. Did you get the cat or did you pass on it? Hugs

    1. We're passing on the cat. Joe is right on three counts: #1, he is 5 years old and used to being the only cat of an elderly woman, #2, he doesn't have claws and our other four do - any tussle would put him at a disadvantage, and #3, we don't need five cats!!! I agree with him. My voice of reason!

  7. I think you are lucky to have a voice of reason, even an ill one.

  8. Awww sorry you aren't getting another kitty. I'm sure he will find a good home. Glad Joe is feeling better

  9. I'm glad you're keeping a close eye on Joe and hope he is starting to turn the corner and feel better.

It is sad how many pets need homes but you have done so much for as many as you could manage.

If I had the resources, I'd be a crazy cat lady for sure! At our most, we've had 4 at one time, but that was when we didn't have children. Animals sure do wrap themselves so tightly around our hearts!

  10. Sorry you passed on the new kitty. Sometimes we need to listen to the voice of reason over our emotional voice. Hopefully he will find a good home. I hope Joe is better. My little bout with illness has laster way too long and I have vowed to take better care of myself. Glad to be home in Michigan!!!

  11. My mom had a de-clawed cat. When she got too sick to care for him, my sister took him, but he escaped and was killed by a dog. For a long time my mom tought the cat had been given away. Poor Cat (that was his name).
Hope Joe gets better soon. I agree that having a pet isn't cheap, so see what he says about the matter.
