I made that title up, but do plan to make a list of five things, since I'll be home late this evening, it is better for me to post on my lunch hour today.
1. It is COLD here in central Florida today. 39 when I came to work, and only 55 right now. We'll be this way for a few days, I think. I really don't mind. It's nice to get out my sweaters and long-sleeved tops.
2. We have an opening reception tonight, for our new exhibits. Maggie Taylor, and Louviere+Vanessa, will all three be here to talk about their work. I so look forward to hearing the artists talk about the thought process that goes into their art. All three are photographers. Maggie Taylor is married to Jerry Uelsmann (http://www.uelsmann.net/), who is quite famous and has works in our permanent collection. I love Jerry Uelsmann's work. You might be familiar with some of his images.
3. There is a wholesale gift market in Orlando this weekend. You might remember that Joe and I went back in August (they have them twice a year). I don't think my knees will make it this time. The parking lot is far, far, far from the doors of the Orlando Convention Center, and the Center itself is huge. If I still had the scooter, I wouldn't hesitate. Wish I could afford to buy one! Also, I haven't made anything with the supplies I bought in August. Joe keeps mentioning that I'm not creating jewelry... perhaps I should get started again before going to anymore markets!
4. I just finished a very fun book on my Nexus7, called "Dearly Departed in Deadwood", by Ann Charles. I am going to start the second in the series, "Optical Delusions in Deadwood", tonight. Both were free, and the first one was quite entertaining. I read for entertainment, and am happy to get lost in a story and not have to think too hard about what is going on.
5. And last, I just wish you all a good weekend! Hope you can relax and do only what you feel like doing. I think that is what I'm going to do!! Enjoy! Peace, love & Hugs.
i read for entertainment too since I was an English major at university. At the moment I'm reading Blood Gospel by James Rollins. Alas it wasn't free, but it's worth it. I get so many free books that I don't mind buying one every now and then.
ReplyDeleteI think I've told you how much I love necklaces. I'm a bit particular when it comes to earrings, because I prefer small gold ones though I sometimes wear silver ones. Costume jewelry earrings break me out. You really should start making things again and maybe you'll sell enough to buy a scooter.
Sounds like a fun 5 for Friday. Except the cold, you can keep that. lol
ReplyDeleteInteresting that you make jewelry too. I haven't for a few years. It's just one of the things I want to clear out of my craft room.
I wanted an e-reader of some sort for Christmas. We bought a new stove instead. lol Maybe for my birthday.
I've been working on 'My Favorite 10 Memories from Childhood' post. Having fun to.
Stay warm, and have a great weekend!
I thought you had a Kindle...or did you switch up to a new reader? I have been reading a lot from my Kindle on these cold winter days.
ReplyDeleteRuth, I got a Nexus 7 for my birthday/Christmas. I love it. I have all my Kindle books on it, plus can read my Facebook, Blogs and emails. It is wonderful! Joe is using my Kindle, now!
DeleteThanks for the book titles. I read a lot too and I'm always on the look-out for recommendations from friends. I'm going to go look for it on Amazon.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy that cooler weather. I wish we had your temps. We're headed for sub-zero and possibly an ice storm.
Hope you have a great weekend.
You are such a multi-talented lady. I like the idea of making your jewelry again and selling it, making enough to buy your own scooter. Knowing we are both readers, I appreciate your recommendations...gonna look for them. I need some light reading for a change. Enjoy the cooler weather, it wont last! lol
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading too and I love my ereader. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI still haven't finished Frank McCourt's Teacher Man. I have been sidetracked by a course book I need to get through called Christianity for the Rest of Us. 5 for Friday is a good fall back on Fridays if you can't think of a blog to do.
