Snow in Lakeland, FL!!....

Yesterday was Lakeland's annual SNOWFEST!!  Once a year, you can find real snow at our Lake Mirror Park!  The kids have a blast.  Please take a look at this year's photos (and I am happy to get no closer to snow, than this!):

We had a staff retreat for work today.  All day in the back room at Mitchells Coffee Shop.  Lots of good coffee and muffins, and a delicious wrap for lunch.  Besides the good food and drink, we got a lot of good work done, too, which is what it was all about.

Tomorrow is my 61st birthday.  I threw myself a big party last year.  Joe is not a party planner, but told me to have fun, and I did.  I did all the cooking for a 4-hour open house.  Fifty-seven friends came, and Tristan's mom gave me a Shutterfly coupon to have a book made of the photos from the party.  It was loads of fun, but it is hard to believe another year has gone by.  This was taken a year ago, just before the party started.  As you can see, it was casual - and I ordered the t-shirt specifically to wear for the party!  LOL

I think I will have to wear it tomorrow, too!  It should be good every year, as time goes by!

Joe gave me my birthday card tonight (beautiful) and a gift card for my favorite Coldwater Creek!  Shopping, shopping!  We are going out to dinner tomorrow, to Bonefish Grill!  Love their Bang Bang Shrimp!

My knee is more painful today than yesterday.  It is all I can do to take a step.  I actually asked a co-worker to pick me up at the Museum this morning, so she could drop me off right in front of Mitchells.  The all-day public parking is three blocks away, and there is no way I could have walked that far.  Sorry to complain and boo-hoo about it, but I really messed up my knee.  The MRI is Wednesday.  I was hoping to wait until after Christmas if I need surgery, but I'm not sure I can stand it that long.  I can ignore pain up to a point.  This is getting me down at bit.  Actually, pain is exhausting.  If I use my grandpa's old cane, and keep my knee stiff and the muscle tight, I can tolerate walking, but that gets tiring after a short distance.  Enough about that.  Prayers appreciated!

I talked with my baby sister tonight. She and her husband live in Georgia.  We don't talk often, so it was good to get her birthday wishes and hear her voice!

We're watching the next episode of Downton Abbey.  Loving it!!  Have a good Tuesday, all!  Peace, love & hugs.

  3. Sounds like you are have a great time, even with a painful knee. I hope you won't need surgery. Try staying off your feet for awhile.

  4. Sorry to hear your knee is so painful now. It sounds like you won't be able to wait. Prayers for you.
An early happy birthday to you. I'll be 66 next week. But I still feel 36. It might be mandatory for me to get old, but I don't have to "get old".
We had snow flakes today. It didn't stick but when we see those flurries, it won't be long and we'll be shoveling the stuff out of the way. Yuck.
You have a great day tomorrow. I love the t-shirt. The party and dinner out sounds like a lot of fun. Enjoy.

  5. I went to the web site and looked at the photos. They're great. I especially like the little guy sitting in the snow with Dad (I'm assuming) standing next to him in the sandals and shorts. That's funny.

  6. ♫Happy Birthday to You.♫ It's pretty hard to ignore horrid knee pain - and yet no fun to have surgery at this time of year - or any time, for that matter. Hope the shopping helps your knee feel better. ;-) Okay, enough of me being a smart alec. I do hope you feel better, Terri.

You really got me with that post title. :-)

    1. Judy, thanks for the birthday wishes! I will go shopping at the Coldwater Creek outlet, in Orlando, AFTER Christmas when the sales will be even better! More bang for my bucks! Hopefully the knee will be up to it by then.

  7. Wishing my dear friend a happy birthday today. I am so sorry to hear your knee is giving you such pain, but as I have said before, I feel your pain too, as I have been there. It comes down to that point when you just cant put it off any longer. If surgery is in your near future, I hope it is after the 1st of the year too. Our Coldwater Creek is in the same mini-mall as Bonefish and both are super! Sending love and hugs for your special day.

    1. Thanks for the birthday wishes, Linda! I'm using my grandma's walker today, and it is helping me get around much easier! It's on wheels, with a seat over a basket...quite racey!! We used to call it her racer. LOL Now I'm racing around with it. It's easier than crutches and more convenient than a cane. Whew!

  9. Hope you're having a good birthday day despite your knee. Sure wish I could do more than just send positive thoughts and prayers out, but alas I'm neither surgeon nor a faith healer. I suppose tomorrow you'll find out more.

I loved seeing the photos of the kids in the snow and people in the background wearing short sleeves. We have an indoor ski slope in Madrid - not as posh as the one in Dubai, but I don't ski. You might get me on a sled though. LOL.

    1. The kids do have fun. We actually went one year, just to watch. Mobbed, but the kids love it. It's the only "snow" some of them have every seen.

      Thanks for the prayers!

  13. Hi Terri,

I am hoping that your birthday was very happy and that you get some relief for your knee. I have knee problems too and take pain meds daily. I go to a specialist in January. Mine has gone on for too long...hopefully yours will feel better soon. Enjoy your special day!!

  14. I grew up in Victoria which has a climate like the coastal rain forest...mostly rain all winter. I used to pray to God for snow every Christmas to make it like a real Christmas. All the senior were praying for rain. I guess I was outnumbered as I only remember one magical White Christmas. Now Bing is gone too.
