A Long Day....
It has been a long day. I am just catching up on blogs and organizing my thoughts for this one!
My dental appointment was at 10:30 this morning. I think I mentioned in an earlier post that I was having some painful sensitivity to cold. One of my upper molars had a crack in it, associated with an old filling. The doc took out the old filing and refilled it. He said I was lucky, because the crack was all the way through, and was just wedged in with the old filling. Had it all come out and broken off, I would have had to get root canal/cap. Thank goodness we caught it! Even with my dental insurance, a root canal and cap are way too expensive!
I had some good productive time at work today, and feel good about having tomorrow off, to prepare lunch for my girlfriends. I even left work a little early, to get my hair cut, too.
My knee is still very painful and I am still using the walker. I didn't use it going into the dentist office, though. Made it in okay, but after laying in that chair for an hour or so, getting up and leaving almost did me in. Sigh.
Joe, bless him, did all the grocery shopping today. He had everything on my list, ready and waiting for me. He said he will vacuum and spot mop for me in the morning, while I finish getting lunch ready. I made the sauce tonight, cooked the hamburger and onions, baked the sponge cake, made the simple syrup for it, and got the chocolate and vanilla puddings cooked and in the refrigerator. I was able to do most of it while sitting, thank goodness.
Tomorrow, I will need to cook the lasagne noodles, and put it together for the oven. I'll make a nice lettuce salad, and have garlic bread, fresh fruit and an antipasta plate to get ready. I'll put the Italian Creme Cake together and get it iced with whipped cream. The gifts are ready, and it won't take long to put the table together. The girls are coming around 11:30.
This weekend, I'll be baking cookies. Yum!!
Peace, love, and hugs!!

ReplyDeleteWow you were busy. Everything sounds yummy. Enjoy the weekend!
ReplyDeleteHow do you manage to cook while using a walker? Better slow it down for awhile til your knee stops hurting.
ReplyDeleteI sit, Diana, and Joe fetches!! It works okay. I'm being careful.
Deletewow your party sounds wonderful. So much good food. Hope it goes well and that you get to rest your knee.
ReplyDeleteWow! all that food sounds wonderful. What a pity I am too far away to gate crash. That cake sounds good, I shall look it up. Sorry to hear about your knee.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness... your lunch sounds absolutely wonderful.
ReplyDeleteDental work. :( I can imagine the pain you would have had.
You have a great time with the girls tomorrow.
I would like to gate-crash too. It all sounds so good. I have lowered my expectations of what I SHOULD do while on crutches with leg cramps. I have dental insurance too with my teacher's pensions plan but still it costs above what the plan will pay. I feel for my friends who don't have dental insurance. It is hard enough for me to come up with the extra cost. Some of them are starting to look old from lost or dead teeth. We are so much more upbeat if we have decent teeth to show the world in our old age. We all have medical coverage in Canada but dental is not coverered unless you are in an accident and have the teeth rearranged by the blow. So up here we begin to sort folk by upper and middle class who have good looking teeth still and the lower classes who are losing them and don't have dental coverage. There is something wrong about it all. We know that gum disease that is let go, will mean a higher risk of heart attack and other sickness. What would Jesus do?
ReplyDeleteAwww..what a blessing Joe has been during your knee injury! You have a good one there! Thank goodness you caught the crack in your tooth soon enough to prevent a root canal!
