Weekends are just too short....

Good golly, this weekend went by quickly!

Joe and I worked most of the day, putting the house back in order and getting some much needed cleaning done.  We both just love the new tables in the living room.  It feels so good to have things cleaned and re-arranged.  A bookcase came out of the guest room and went into the dining room.  I purged, purged and purged.  We have about five boxes of stuff for the Church's rummage sale.  The only problem is, they don't want things dropped off until November 8th.  The garage is full again, but only for a couple of weeks.  We can deal with it.  That really gives me time to sift through a couple of closets though, and maybe the five boxes will become seven or eight!

For the first time, we were able to open the French doors this morning.  The weather has been beautiful, even if it did get too warm to leave them open all day.  I love having the house open to cool and non-humid fresh air.

I took a couple of photos of the tables.  They aren't that good, but you'll get the idea.  Onyx posed on one of the end tables for you!  The coffee table has some glare on the glass.  Sorry about that.  Hope you can still get an idea of how they look.

Our first Smithsonian Exhibit, as a Smithsonian Affiliate Museum, will open this week.  We petitioned the City of Lakeland to allow us to put a "poster" on the front of our building, to advertise this special event.  They approved it and it went up on Friday!  Picture below (it is 4' x 8')!  The exhibit is of Harry Warneke's photos, from the 1930s.  He was a color photography pioneer, and his photographs were the first COLOR photos to appear in the newspaper and some magazines.  The exhibit is titled "In Vibrant Color".  We are very excited about it, and hope that all of our advertising will bring in lots of visitors.  We even have a billboard that can be seen from I-4!!  Here is a link to the exhibit:  http://polkmuseumofart.org/exhibitions/in-vibrant-color-vintage-celebrity-portraits-from-the-harry-warnecke-studio/

This weekend was the annual classic car show (not one of our programs), but I took this picture as I came back from lunch (with Shirley) on Friday afternoon.  This car was parked in our parking lot - someone from the car show, showing off his or her vintage auto and also visiting the Museum!!

You will have to click on the photos to see them better.  I should have cropped them first.  But - there you are.

I took Brenda up on her Christmas challenge (mentioned a few days ago in one of my blogs).  I made "Baked Eggs & Veggies To Go"  for our breakfast this morning.  They turned out very good, and Joe thought they were great.  He is a picky eater, so that tells you that they must be good!  Here is the photo I took (below) and here is the link to my Pinterest board and the recipe:  http://pinterest.com/tdorsaneo/food-and-drink/

I will let you know that I used pre-cooked sausage in each one, and chopped spinach, and instead of shredded cheddar, I used sliced vegan cheese on top of each one.  We decided they would be better if I don't use the 'cupcake' papers.  Just put them in well sprayed muffin tins, or you could even just pour into a cake pan and then cut the size serving you want.  The papers, even though I sprayed them with Pam, did not come off very well.  They were yummy, though, and would make a good weekend, holiday, or special brunch breakfast item.

They were nice and puffy when they came out of the oven, then they fell a bit.  Didn't make them taste any different, though!

On to a new week!  Wishing you all a good one!  Peace, love & hugs.

  2. I like your new tables. And such a pretty Kitty. He almost didn't look real.
I looked at your center's web site and I 'googled' the photographer's name. I found several of his photos. He was good. I wish I could see the exhibit. I studied photography years ago so I'm fascinated with other people's work.
Your egg recipe sounds good. I've heard from a lot of people who have had 'baked eggs' but I've never tried doing them that way. Now I'm in the mood to try it. :)
Hope you have a great week ahead.

  3. It's good to know that you have Onyx's 'seat of approval' on your new end table. I got quite a lot done at the weekend, but yes they go by too quickly!

The Harry Warneke's exhibit is exciting for Lakeland and Polk Museum! I'm off to check out the link:-)

  8. Onyx makes such a lovely table decoration. ;-)

My Pinterest challenge recipe did not turn out as expected. I blogged about it. I'm moving on to the next recipe and getting my crafting together!

Unless someone agrees to come help me, I don't think I'll ever get a good amount of purging done.
