I had a busy day today, doing quarterly reports. Not all done, but it was a good way to leave my week!
This afternoon, my old boss and his wife came by. They are down from Chattanooga to see two of their kids, to celebrate birthdays. It was good to see them. Dan took this photo and posted it on my Facebook timeline....
He (again) said he wanted to steal Pal and me...that was nice to hear. We made a good team, and he WAS smart enough to hire me a little more than 15 years ago! (winking!) Dan is the Executive Director at the Hunter Museum of Art, in Chattanooga, TN, now.
This is the first Friday of the month, and our downtown always closes the streets and has a big First Friday celebration. The stores and restaurants stay open late, and there is always a theme. Tonight was to be Zombie Fest, and the local dance theater troupe was going to do Michael Jackson's Thriller down the street (it has become a tradition, actually, for the October First Friday). Anyway, that long explanation just to say that it got rained out. We have had some wicked storms in the late afternoon and early evening this week. Today, there were also four really terrible accidents - two on I-4, one on Orlando's beltway 417, and the worst one, on I-75, was a 70 car pile-up and I-75 was completely closed for 5 hours. Not sure if it is open yet, actually. The news tonight reported that no one was killed, praise God, but there are over 20 injuries.
I always try to remember to NOT use cruise control when it is raining. It is so easy for your car to hydroplane and/or go out of your control when the weather is bad and the cruise control is on. Don't use it on wet or slick roadways! Stay safe and stay in control.
It is still raining. Our rain just makes it steamier. No cooling off for us. Sigh. I'm ready to be done with 90s and humidity. Enjoy those cool temps, if you have them!!
Wishing you all a good weekend!! Peace, love & hugs.

Hi..it is always good to see old friends! Enjoy the weekend. it sounds like fun.
ReplyDeleteI would sure like to take in one of your street festival events. I never use cruise control as it annoys me but I must remember your tip as Old Man uses it a lot on long boring stretches.
ReplyDeleteLove the photo from facebook. I sure do appreciate the lovely sun we're having, but most of all the abscence of humidity. Too bad the Thriller dance had to be cancelled.
ReplyDeleteHow nice to get to visit with your old boss...dont talk him into coming back....Chattanooga needs him! That rain you have been having needs to move on out so you can have a sunny weekend. Hugs
ReplyDeleteWeather here was nice. I love being able to open the windows.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe downtown celebration each month sounds like a lot of fun. Too bad it got rained out this week. But that 70 car pileup on 75 sounds horrible. I can't imagine what that's like. So glad no one was killed. It sounds like that in itself became a miracle. Thank God.
ReplyDeleteWe have a freeze warning for tonight. I'm not sure if I'd prefer this over your hot and steamy. Oh, I think I'll stay here. lol
You have a great weekend.
It's nice that he came for a visit!
ReplyDeleteA 70 car pile-up - wow! That's scary. Awesome that no one perished, but all those injuries are awful.
I just changed my settings to view blogs privately and wondering how it affects my comments, so this is only a test! LOL!
ReplyDeleteIf you transferred to Chattanooga, we would be close enough to meet sometime! lol. I had to remind myself not to use cruise control yesterday when driving in the rain.
