Smokin' Joe and Bnois King have arrived in Lakeland! They will be the entertainment at our Red White & the Blues, tomorrow night! Some very good music - Texas Blues! I wish you were all close enough to come so we could party together!
Someone mentioned today that a date like 10-11-12 will only happen two more times in our lifetimes, and that will be 11-12-13, and then 12-13-14. I found that little trivia tid-bit interesting.
The Museum is buzzing, getting ready for tomorrow night's event. I helped Pal wrap and shrink wrap five baskets of wine, earlier today. They are prizes for the drawing tickets at tomorrow's event. I have three tickets, but will be shocked for sure if I win one. Even with five chances, I just never win anything. Fingers crossed, though! Some good wines were donated, and a couple of the bottles are worth in the $100 range.... not that I would know the difference. I like wine, but am not a real connoisseur. I know a bad wine when I taste it, but can't tell the difference between a $20 bottle and a $100 bottle.
I have mentioned before (here or maybe while still on Multiply) that my new boss's partner has a brain tumor. She started Hospice Care for him about a month ago. He has begun the shut-down phase, and they had to move him to a facility today, so that they could increase his morphine, to keep him comfortable. We have been helping her with her dog, and with getting her friend into the house. I'm glad her friend drove down from Gainesville, to stay at the house and be there for her. I told Claire this morning, when I went over to pick up her spare key, that she didn't have to be alone. All it takes is a phone call. She said that she is actually looking forward to some alone time. I know she is exhausted and just wants this to end now. He has been in such pain, and it is so hard to watch. I've been there with both parents and my brother. Dying from cancer is not an easy thing. Prayers appreciated for Claire and for Harry.
Speaking of prayers, I will also ask for prayers for the sister of our nephew's wife. Her name is Julie, and she was just diagnosed with breast cancer a couple of weeks ago. Again, cancer sucks.
I've been working on bank reconciliations all day. I'm ready for this day to be over! Gotta get 'er done, though. Thanks for checking in! Thanks for the prayers! Wishing you a good evening! Peace, love & hugs.

Saying a prayer for your friend. Losing a spouse is absolutely a nightmare. In her case, there will be all the guilt for feeling relief that the it's over.
ReplyDeleteMy best advice is don't wait for her to call. She won't be able to.
We are in touch every day, and that won't change. We were texting nearly all day today. Fortunately, she also has family here in Florida.
DeleteCancer is just about the worst thing anyone can face, and prayers will be offered for sure...for both your new boss's partner and for the sister of your nephew's wife. I know it will be a fun, exciting weekend, and I look forward to your pictures.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the prayers!
DeletePictures will follow, of RW&B.
Cancer sucks! Sorry to hear about your boss's spouse + Julie.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even notice today was 10-11-12. How neat! Red White + Blues sounds fun. Hope you win some wine.
Prayers going out for everyone. I don't remember reading about your boss's partner - maybe a blog I missed.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I'd love to be able to attend your gala. Seems like the perfect time to visit Florida. I don't win either, but once I won a basket full of crafts. I do know a good wine when I taste it, but I'm perfectly happy drinking a table wine or one in a carton.
Yes, cancer SUCKS. Hate it.
ReplyDeleteI was reading that piece of trivia to my husband as he ate his breakfast and he said, "Well, we'll never see any of those because the world is ending Dec. 21st!" Bwah ha ha ha ha!!!
Watching someone suffer is the worst next to living it.
Prayers for the partner of your friend.
ReplyDeleteI have seen the suffering physically and emotionally from the effects of cancer on loved ones and I will be in prayer. The youth pastor's wife here was diagnosed with breast cancer and she is also pregnant so I would ask for prayer for her as well. The baby will be delivered a month early so she can begin treatment. He and her husband also have a little child I think about 3 or so. They just started as youth pastors at church here.
The Smoking Joes Blues music there sounds like a blast. Have a good weekend!
I wish I was closer to you too. I've never heard of these gentlemen. I'll have to see if I can find them on YouTube. I love blues. I also heard yesterday about the date. That is interesting trivia. The next date like that won't be until 01/02/2103! I think I'll stick around so I can see it. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to watch someone waste away with cancer. My husband's mother and my closest friend both died from it. My thoughts and prayers for those close to you.
Hope you have a great weekend. Good luck on the drawing. I'm like you... I never win anything. But you might. Like Bob always tells me... you can't win if you don't enter. :)
Dear Terri I wanted to stop by here and leave some GOOD news on your blog here. The lady I mentioned our youth pastor's wife had great news at the doctors that the cancer has shrunk so small..they call it zero something. I can't understand what zero if she still needs treatment but it is so tiny that they are going to let her carry the baby and not induce her that early as they were going to and it sounds like there will just be a little local surgery not anything really invasive. I remember my mother in law having a tiny lump removed and all was and reamined well so I am continuing to pray good things. Just such a relief things are much better
